MICHIGAN KITCHEN

White kitchens, while they were always a classic, in recent years got to be a "trend", so a lot of people are tired of them now. They'll come in and out of favor, but will always be classic.

This one, in Harbor Springs, Michigan exerts a timeless charm, for me.

Hmm, it must be a combo of the cheery fabric, raftered ceiling, the work table with endearingly bulbous legs, and that view. Reminds me of older suburbs-- broad lawns, Edwardian, Craftsman and modern houses all mixed together, porches, big trees, etc.

Love the breakfast nook too. Can just see the Beave explaining his latest antics to a skeptical Ward Cleaver...

The rest of the house, surprisingly, I wasn't enamored with-- too many prints and patterns and wallpaper for my particular taste. The kitchen and breakfast nook had the most restraint. It goes that way sometimes.

But I was surprised when they said the house was a new build! The exterior is adorable and looks like it's been that way for decades...

I love the tulip motif that is in the kitchen, but come fall I would probably be wanting warm colors and change out the soft accessories. I really love that front porch!

Beautiful. To me white kitchens are never out of trend. There is so much that can be done to change the look of a white kitchen. Adding natural wood, colorful fabrics and highlight paint. Changing the hardware.

Just my thought on it. Now all the gray that was the rage for a few years and starting to wain is a totally different ballgame.

I absolutely love this kitchen. The addition of the flowered print really makes it "special." I like the wide window, in our home it would overlook the woods. The only minor criticism I might make is to construct the island out of granite so it would be a heavy duty work surface.

I love everything, except I prefer a table to built in seating. Her flowered fabric is perfect and likely changed out along with the pillows seasonally. I would love to have a kitchen like this!

I'm not really feeling it but could live with it if were a different print on the cafe curtains. I'd also change out the spindle legs on the island to something squared/clean lines.

The breakfast nook would be gutted including the shelving. I'd stick a small bistro table there instead. As is, again both prints don't appeal to me and the seating looks uncomfortable. I think people sitting underneath the shelving would knock a lot of that stuff off with their head either just sitting there or getting in and out.

Really super cute, but I don't love the curtains or the lighting...Other than that though it is a really cute space, and I love the outdoor porch and the big window!!!!I bet the rest of this house is very cute!

Love the exterior of the house, especially the porch, always a favorite. The kitchen is lovely but the table, which I do like, takes up too much room. I prefer a dining table and chairs also rather than the breakfast nook. The tulip fabric is pretty and enhances the kitchen look. All in all lots of appeal in the kitchen!!!!

"Cozy" kitchens just remind me of the 1950's when folks were poor where I lived. To me, it's not a fond memory.

I think the person that thought it was a good idea to have a built in decorative shelf right behind the seat did not have children, grandchildren or pets in mind.

Falling items would be a concern for me as you are trying to sit.

The entire seating area looks awkward.

when we moved into our house It had benches. We thought they were nice. We had three young boys and the one in the middle or end had to go to the bathroom. That didn't last long. A funny memory.

The Kitchen is cute and functional. The valance would probably only be up for Spring and Summer for me. I would have to change it come Fall.

The Breakfast nook looks very cramped and tight to me...we have a 6'5" man in our family who would not fit there.

On my monitor the exterior of the house is lavender (which is a big no for me) maybe my monitor is off in color.

It's funny. I always wanted a white kitchen. I had one in the house we are in now -- got sick of it -- so we changed. Now I am looking at this kitchen and thinking -- wow -- I really like this white kitchen...... Uh Oh!

Whew-- but if you google that title, it'll pop up. Unfortunately, for me, the rest of the house was a little too frenetic, not living up to the airy, timeless simplicity of the kitchen. But, no doubt, there are still good ideas sprinkled throughout.

Let me know what you think of "Domino". I've always like that magazine, but thought that they had a paywall online.

But, lo and behold, they're free! And have tons of good home tours.

Well, he certainly dosen't believe in some of the Elements and Principles! The lack of unity is non existent, variety has exploded, but he kept emphasis and repetitions strong.

What a headache. A design needs to be livable.
