LONDON LIVING ROOM IN WARM TAUPE

(Yup, it's dressed, if subtly, for Christmas.)

This is London designer Noor Charchafchi's sitting room. In order to get this shot, with the fire going, I had to grab a picture of it decorated for Christmas! So, it's not seasonal, but did want to show the coziness of it.

She's the principal of Celine Interior Design, and is unusual in that she loves taupe, and other warm neutrals, which she chose for her personal house in Fulham. Nice change from white, white, white.

Small detail: She took some firewood, in the above image, and strewed it on the coffee table as another warm, organic note, which I suspect no one will like, except me.

Here's a non-Christmas side view of the room. Her art glass vases in the shelves are quite spectacular-- she has very artful accessories, and is a maximalist.

She does inject rich color in key spots, like this deep blue in the kitchen. I find her use of brass inlay to be striking.

The blue is picked up over here by the stove.

You can see her nice feeling for color mixed with neutrals in this shot. I love her round green stone sculpture, mixed with lighter green pottery, a super chunky bronzey vase, and family photos....

And like me, she moves stuff around-- the same green objects are in a different spot...

And back to her Christmas tour, she showed how even a fairly small entrance hall can be festive with few, but impactful accessories, again in her neutrals.

In that same Christmas tour video, by the way, she showed her front door Christmas wreath, from a place called "Grace and Thorn", which is a wreath of dried natural botanicals. Pretty, and rather unusual:

A few more shots of her unusual palette, which she herself described as more "late autumnal".

Love her lamps and accessories. That veined bowl with botanicals!

Even her taper candles are taupe! Hope you can see them in this shot--

Noor Charchafchi and her firm Celine Interior Design, strike me as an example of soft modern or at least, "transitional" English design, somewhat in the Sophie Paterson vein, but with unique twists.

@Oznell - Overall, very pretty and cozy. I love the taupe color and have it in my house. Some would say it is a blah color, but I find it soothing. Like you, I am always moving things around the house! Love the blue cabinets!

I am not exactly a minimalist or a maximalist but I would be a tad more sparing with the volume of accessories. I love the lamps and the majority of her vases (the bronze!)

and while the kitchen is not as understated or rustic as I prefer, I can admire a job beautifully done! Her florals are almost all fantastic....(not a fan of the huge thing in the hallway....) and her wreath is lovely.

When you start out with taupe and warm tones, you can't go far off track in my book!

I love all the decor and touches she added to the rooms. Even though I prefer color, I do like the taupe and there are touches of color which catch your eye in the rooms. I find the place warm and inviting , well done decorating. The kitchen is very modern but spacious and I like the dining set. Very nice area.

@Oznell @I love the spaces, especially the art glass. Taupe is a favorite for me as other posters have said. A little too much in some places but I could be very much at home here.

I love the use of taupe. My own living room walls are a taupe color and it adds warmth and color w/out the color being in your face bold and bright.

I love the brass inlay on the kitchen cabinets.

I love neutral colors, but not her style at all. And all that clutter would drive me nuts. I just couldn't stand it.

I like the taupe paint color and the fireplace as a fixed element and that's about it. Her decor choices don't impress. I rarely agree and often don't even understand when posters cite clutter, but this, to me, is an example of a series of spaces that need serious editing.

@Oznell - Well, I like the kitchen cabinets. That's it though. I try to find something in each pic that i like - paint color, decor, something, even if the overall design is not my taste. This time, I couldn't do it.

very warm and cozy, but I would maybe add a tiny bit of color. Love her decor though, very pretty!

The taupe color walls are fine. I'm not crazy about her decorating style or most of the furnishings. Looks cluttered to my eye; too many accessories for me.

The kitchen is ok.

There is too much stuff in that small living room for me. Feathery plumes are not my thing..I do like the colors used but the style is not for me.

Very well done! I loved most of it (like the dining area chairs which are too modern and less special to me). I loved the wood on the coffee table, but would have put it in an antique basket.

I am in love with the white vase on the second shelf down on the left next to the fire place. I see angel wings in clouds in it!

@jubilant , white and taupe together are so pleasing to my eye, too! Very fresh look.

@just bee , you're right-- at least one of her kids plays the piano. Very practical to have it right in kitchen, under Mom's eye! ( I used to dream and waste away my piano practice periods, unseen and unheard, I guess, in a spare bedroom.)

@ECBG , very creative image for that vase-- it is dreamy.
