WILD AND CRAZY BATHROOM

Ha! This tickled me. I just showed it to my husband, saying, here's your dream bathroom. He immediately condemned it-- as I knew he would-- saying it was hideously ostentatious.

I think it's fun, on its own terms, like something out of an outrageous early 90's Richard Gere movie or something. It's by a mysterious (to me) design firm called "Banda" which is super high end and seems to be transatlantic to boot, doing properties in both London and New York.

Do you find it scary when windows in a high rise go right to the floor? I do, I feel like I'm going to fall through...

Every room in this NY apartment they did seems to have that.

Hmmm, why the feathers? Must be an "art installation".

Again, I can just imagine sleepwalking right over the edge, and breaking through that glass, gack!

This dining room is astonishing, with that view. Imagine facing the Empire State building (that is what it is, right?) with your cornflakes in the morning. This room feels a bit more sheltered than some of the others....

I do love the simplicity of the apartment's sculptural staircase--

Based on this, I had to see what else "Banda" interior design has done. This penthouse living room below, shows they can do things of a quite human scale too. This cozy, dormered roofline and the interior makes me think of a Parisian garret apartment. I'm guessing it's one of Banda's London projects--

I like the way they repeated the colors of the fireplace, in the beautiful stone used in the kitchen.

@Oznell I love all those floor to ceiling windows. There is so mugh light and airyness in the space. The ceilings are so tall! Probably breathtaking to visit the apartment. Love the view - impressive. I'm not sure how I would feel living there full time tho - I wonder if I'd end up feeling 'exposed' in some way. Doesn't feel very private, althought you're up very high so in reality it probably is very private. But just the feeling. I usually prefer some kind of window treatments, light and airy, to soften the look, but windows are sooooo large and there are so many, Without them tho anywhere it seems masculine or corporate to me.

The curved staircase is beautiful. Different apartment? From that staircase to the rest of the pictures below do you think the wall treatment is plaster?

I absolutely love all the space in this apartment. As far as the windows, my niece and husband lived in a high rise on the top floor with these type windows and I didn't go too close to them. I would add window treatments. The furniture is not for me, too stark and cold. The view is spectacular and that is a highlight! Love the location!!!!!

No way am I taking a bath with no covering on the windows 🪟 I'm old school I guess. 🛁

However I love the bedroom and could find myself waking up to this view daily. 🛌

Ha! The title "Wild and Crazy Bathroom" reminded me of one I saw of an expensive remodeling project on the "UK Daily Mail" site a while ago, and I wondered if it was going to be the same. Nope, but have your husband check this one out! And remember this is AFTER.

The open shower is to the left of the tub (I hope the drain will handle the water) and check out the floor tiles leading to the elevated tub - I would probably break my neck after becoming dizzy from the patterned tile with steps up and down and then slice my ankle on the sharp corner edges LOL.

And I hope that chandelier over the tub never breaks and falls down into the bathwater!

Those views!!! Also, in the dining room photo it almost looks like the windows are sliders that are partially open...I know this cannot possibly be the case, but the vertical gold strips are different in that room.

I suppose if you could afford to live there you wouldn't be doing any domestic chores yourself, but almost immediately my mind went to Windex and scaffolding!

Staircase a big yes, bathroom a resounding NO!

I lived near the top of the tallest highrise in a city for a year. After three months those spectacular views became just large pictures on a wall. I like looking out on street life -- people, delivery trucks, neighbors' weird habits, whatever. But I also would love to spend a week in that apartment.

It reminded me of what my father thought when he visited an inlaws new house for the first time-

"pretentious."

I always thought that was funny. You know, a house meant to oh so impress people and that's what he thought of it all.

I always feel the more windows the better! Floor to ceiling? Wonderful. But, just not here. The height is frightening.

I try to find something beautiful in everything, but honestly am at a loss.

I will simply say it is "interesting".

This apartment is not me at all but I love it.

I would not want it to be my permanent home but the wealthy me that I dream about would love to live there on the weekends.

A girl needs a place to kick off her pumps after a long day of shopping on Madison Avenue, going to the Theatre, and Dining in the best Restaurants.

My dear friend, although, you know I don't usually appreciate modern, I am in love! I especially like the stair case: I would have to drag a couch under that beautiful shape, get a glass of white zin and read or write letters!

Of course I love the view, but the decor seems more warm to me than most!

I love it. Spacious. They didn't clutter it up. The beauty of the view, the walls, the color and unique furniture statement pieces just speak for themselves. I could make myself at home. At night it must be breathtaking,,,

I don't like highrises anywhere-scary. It is a gorgeous view though.

I'd probably rather have a photograph of it on the wall!

Great observations, @moonandthestars . The staircase does belong to the first apartment-- see how the floors are the same-- love those floors.

You spotted the lovely plaster treatments!

@Happy2BHere , wow thanks for posting, that really is a kooky bathroom (and tripping nightmare!)

@DREAMON and @ECBG , you two have the right idea for relaxing in such a space!

I quite agree with the posters who've said, not for me, full time, but love to spend a little time there. Light, space and air , plus stunning landscape views for days-- I could get into that.

Would have to build a short pony wall or something at the base of all those windows-- to keep from falling into the abyss.

As for the bathroom, I'm funny about marble. I generally don't like highly figured or "busy", or very memorable ceramic tile.

With marble, on the other hand (unlike hubby), I say, "bring it on". Marble is such a force of nature, and even the highly figured ones I rarely get tired of, oddly. Get lost in the beauty of that natural substance.

I forget the name of this one so lavishly used in the bathroom-- it has "violet" or "violetta" or something in the title. If you enlarge picture, it's quite interesting up close.

The bathroom is beautiful but would be over the top for me, personally. I love the rest of the apartment (including the floor to ceiling windows) but I would want to choose my own furnishings.
