I like an interesting restaurant interior almost as much as a house interior. A restaurant is kind of a "stage set" for food, and a certain drama is so enhancing, is it not?

Beautiful Milan, Italy has a new eatery, "Beefbar Milano", that is located in a legendary chapel of an old seminary in the city. (Presumably they deconsecrated it before the switch to its current function.)

Very sumptuous. Love the heavy, vaulted stone (?) ceilings, which speak to its former life as a chapel. Also love the colors, the finishes, the luxe velvet fabrics...

The online magazine "Galerie" said about that the architect and design team "..... (They) took inspiration from the chic aesthetic of 1940's and 60's Milanese style".

1940's and 60's Milanese style! That must be one reason I like it so much! Love Forties' Italian interiors...

They go on to say that the rich color palette includes green, black, white and burgundy, "...which pop against the space's terrazzo flooring and dark walnut paneling."

Dark walnut paneling, mmm. It has a pleated or ribbed effect here, love. Look at those chic tables and chairs. They were designed by the late architect Vico Magistretti. The gorgeous marble of the tables is called Verde Alpi. Let's see-- Verde must refer to 'green'. What is Alpi? Something to do with the Alps? Ha, clearly, I know almost no Italian...

And look at those charming little brass, post-Modern lamps at each table, so cute.

Visually exciting restaurants contribute so much to the experience of eating out. That's one reason I think New Orleans has such a vibrant restaurant scene-- that, and the fabulous food.

I love it. I know a couple places in my town that have fancy dining rooms like that. Old hotels and historic buildings. It is so nice to dine and socialize in such a pretty atmosphere. I feel like people are on their best behavior in there. haha.

I always say-- "Let's go fancy lunch today!" to signal that's my choice. LOL.

The vaulted ceilings are stunning and give the restaurant elegance and class. Every piece of furniture and decor creates an environment I would love to be in!!!!! I assume the food is excellent.

Except for the ceiling fixtures I get an Art Deco feeling, which is my favorite decorating style. Needless to say I like it a lot.

Beautiful, luxurious yet warm and inviting decor.

Love the floor to (almost) ceiling windows...

I would be very happy sitting on one of those sumptuous green sofas which look a bit more comfortable than the chairs. They also offer a bit of privacy as there is little room between the tables.

We were attending a conference in Rome shortly before Covid. A group of us went to a restaurant that had similar ceilings, only you felt like you were in a spacious cave. There were no sumptuous furnishings...just large wooden tables and chairs. It was very rustic and the food was what you would expect from the natives in the area...tons of pasta/salad/fruit. I wish you could have been there, I think you would have enjoyed the experience.

Yes, I love the velvet furniture. I'm always attracted to plush tactile furnishings...and the color is stunning. Thanks, as always @Oznell ....you always provide a vacation from the vagaries of life.

Attractive and assuming the food matches the interior, would be worth a whirl assuming I could be seated at one of those pretty green banquettes. Otherwise, the tables appear to be quite petite and too close together, and cute though they might be, the little lamps take up much needed real estate on the small tables. FIne dining is one of life's pleasures, but for me such includes comfort as well as quality food and aesthetics.

It's like a restaurant from the 60s. A nice place for a quiet lunch or dinner and drinks after work. There is a Mad Men vibe.

I wouldn't want to eat there if I had to eat at the awful jammed together tables along the wall. I have had to do that many times and I just hate it.

Yes indeed! We've all been there. Stuck at those small tables too close to the diners beside us.
