I Used The Pink Stuff

Tried it in my oven and cook top. Did not work for me. Bummer! I don't know what it is about my ovens. I've cleaned ovens before, even aan oven in a condo we rented that was beyond filthy and I got it spotless. I'm just so frustrated.

I have professional grade double ovens and stove top (Dacor). Does anyone think it's because they're professional grade?

Same here. I recently purchased some as well to use on my oven & toaster oven. I only tried it out on my glass oven door to start....it did almost nothing.

Maybe I need to leave it on longer but a LOT of elbow grease seems to be required. I can do a better job with Easy Off oven cleaner.

I was disappointed!...but will give it another try.

@ScrapHappy I would think that should not matter.

I happen to have a self cleaning oven but haven't used that featured for years. When I did, it did a great job cleaning but always smelled so bad and got so hot I was afraid of a fire.

Just buy a bag of medium grit pumice powder and add it to some Dawn. Pumice powder will not scratch glass, ceramic or porcelain and it's dirt cheap. I put my powder in a shaker bottle and sprinkle a small amount on things I'm cleaning. You don't need much.

It's self cleaning but does a poor job.

Which Pink Stuff did you use...spray or paste? The paste is more abrasive and will remove more stuff.

It has been a while since I cleaned my oven......just don't use it much; however, I always used a Fuller Brush product that had very little scent to it. Don't remember using gloves to apply it. It got the baked on / broiler residue off without elbow grease.

Would never use Easy Off....my mother did but all I can remember is the horrible smell and the major effort needed, as well as the rubber gloves !

It was my understanding that cleaners should never be used in self-cleaning ovens b/c the cleaners can ruin the ovens walls. I wonder if that's what went wrong ...? @ScrapHappy

I heard that too. But it seems, at least on these boards, some people do use cleaners on self cleaning ovens. I have not used any cleaners on these ovens. I've used the self cleaning function which wasn't great. I went out and bought a steamer, not a small hand held steamer....a large powerful one in hopes of getting the gunk off and it didn't work. The steamer did help with the oven racks but not as much as I hoped.

@haddon9, a stove repair guy once told me that his company is always super busy between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Why?

Apparently, lots of people use the self-cleaning feature on their ovens right before the Big Day, and the ovens can't take the intense heat and break down.

He said that he has no idea why such a feature is on those ovens, and recommends never using it.

One of my friends had a self-cleaning oven. The interior walls of the oven were rough and had no shine. It came that way. There was no way to manually clean it with any kind of cleaner. It was like trying to wipe down a piece of sandpaper...rough and you couldn't wipe b/c your rag would just stick to the surface. The only way to clean it was to turn on self-cleaning mode.

I was just thinking of ordering that stuff today!! Thanks for posting.

I got some stuff from QVC for cleaning the glass topped stoves. (I don't have one). I just bought it to get my toaster oven doors clean. It's great. Even comes with one of those razor blade scrapers. The rest of the toaster oven (the big one with the French doors) is beyond help. When it was new I didn't see the grease on the stove walls forming. By the time I saw it with the lights on and putting my head as close as I dared I SAW IT and could not believe it. It's hopeless. I'm so ashamed.
