thinking about getting a stick vac

but not too crazy over the battery, as eventually will need a replacement

I have a Shark Ion Flex 2. I got it at Sam's a around 5-7 years ago. Its probably a model not offered anymore.it only cost at the time around $ 169 that i recall, not sure.

The "2" refers to the fact it came with 2 batteries. I highly recommend that. If a cordless only comes with 1, buy. An additional battery from the company onljne.

Having a back up battery ready and charged allows me to keep going when one is used up especially if doing detail.

The con is that i didnt get attachments i wanted and hard to find ones that fit. I buy replacement rollers and filters at Amazon.

It has spoiled me from ever wanting a cord again. I hate wrestling with the cord.

I can't recommend the BISSELL AIR RAM enough. I used to have several Electrolux cordless vacs and when the company was sold, they stopped making them. I absolutely need cordless vacs in my house and use them all the time. We have one on our main floor and one upstairs. They are so convenient.

After reading a number of reviews, I purchased the Air Ram about 6 years ago. FABULOUS! I cannot begin to tell you how much that vac pics up. I have a regular very good corded vac, but actually prefer the Bissell. It stands up on its' own for storage and has the most amazing light to help spot things on the floor you may not notice. You will be amazed how helpful the light is... who would have thought? Wait until you see what it picks up. You'll be absolutly horrified and amazed. We are very clean in our house and use the cordless uprights and Dustbusters many times during the day. The Air Ram is perfect for our needs. It's so great we bought another for our upstairs when we needed to replace the Electrolux, and when it went on sale, bought a third as a spare (I got a great deal on HSN). Wait for the sales or the coupons.

The run time is lengthy and the recharge time fast (very easy to recharge.... no need to take out the battery, just plug it in). The suction is exceptional. I have not needed to replace the battery. GOING STRONG!

I use a battery operated weedeater, mower, shrub trimmer, reciprocal saw, chain saw, leaf blower, etc. But I've never adjusted to a battery operated vacuum.

I have an AIR cordless battery sweeper, pretty sure its from QVC, as this is mainly my store.it came with 2 batteries and the charger, it goes a long way before you have to change the battery, I am very pleased with it. probably have had it 3 years or more, does a good job of sweeping.i'm on constant O2, so don;t need two lines to worry with. this looks like a Dyson sweeper not a stick, but it's lite to use.

I'm a huge fan of the Shark Wandvac. The dirt cup needs to be emptied frequently, but I have a small house and I don't mind doing that. It can be used as a hand vac and stick vac as well as with the full roller base, and comes with all the attachments you will most likely need. I bought replacement filters on Amazon and keep the mechanism clean by washing the dirt cup once a month. The only negative I have is the absence of led lights. The best positive feature is that it is extremely light weight!

If I was going to buy a new vac, cordless or not, it would have to be one with a self-cleaning brush roll b/c I have a golden retriever plus I have long hair. My corded Shark Lift-Away has that feature and once you use it you'll never go back. Shark also makes cordless stick vacs with self-cleaning brush rolls. Look for a Shark Cordless Rocket Zero-M (stands for 'zero maintenance').

Bissell Air Ram all the way! fabulous, works great, handle closes down to save space, stands on its own. love Shark, but wanted a cordless and this far exceeds expectations. HSN carries these.

as for other cordless and stick vacs: I don't like the dust collector being at the top of the handle: too much pressure on the wrist. the Air Ram collector is on top of the bottom (if that makes sense).

I would not use a battery operated vac for the entire house, but I have a Dyson...use it for quick pick ups as well inside our entry from the garage and in our 3 season room. I also like that it has two tools for crevices as well as brush attachment.

@jackthebear @calmheart If you tried the Bissell Air Ram, I truly think you would be impressed, shocked and have a change of heart. I use several times a day on both floors. I am not getting out my corded vac several times a day. It's so convenient and quick. No tangles of anything in the rollers. Best I've used.... even better than the Electrolux. My husband comments constantly how much this thing picks up.

At least I have an idea of some good brands. I asked my DH for a cordless vacuum for Christmas. I selected a greatly reduced 'off' brand. Although I use it everyday, it really is more of a sweeper than a vacuum. It picks up surface dirt on hard flooring and glides over the top of our carpet. Our corded vacuum still has to be used for deep cleaning.

We have 4 Dysons and 1 Shark, I think the Dysons are a bit better at pick up but they are a pain because of the weight and needing to put holes in the wall to hang them or they fall over. I have that little Dyson duster map which I love but it also falls over all the time even though it works like a dream. I'm leaning to replacing the Dysons as they die. We had them at our home, our vacation home and in the motorhome....we now only have our primary home.
