A $250 million NYC penthouse just hit the market, becoming the most expensive home in the US.

At 1,416 feet above the city, it's the world's tallest residence, located within the luxury skyscraper Central Park Tower on Billionaires' Row.

Take a look inside the apartment, which boasts 17,545 square feet of interior living space.

The tower itself has 131 floors.

It's 1,550 feet tall. (The Empire State Building, for context, is 1,454 feet tall when you include its antenna.)

It occupies the top three floors of the tower, floors 129-131, soaring 1,416 feet above the city. It's so tall that apparently you're able to see the curvature of the earth with the naked eye from its terrace.

The residence has seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and three powder rooms.

On the 129th floor, you'll find a 1,500-square-foot grand salon, library, media room, guest and staff bedrooms, observatory, and private reception gallery.

On the middle floor are most of the bedrooms, as well as a gaming lounge and multiple dressing rooms.

The 131th floor has a massive private ballroom of nearly 2,000 square feet, in addition to a study, storage spaces, private gym, catering kitchen, and the terrace. This the highest ballroom and highest terrace in the world.

All told, the triplex boasts 17,545 square feet of interior space and 1,433 square feet outside.

And it has 27-foot-high ceilings.

Could I live there, even if I could afford it- LOL!

NO WAY!!! I'm afraid of heights. I always have been.

Not interested even for free. I don't find the city or the views desirable at all.

Only if it was near the California coast....but the Coastal Commission won't let them build that high near the beach...

Well, in SoCal, there are highrises in Westwood on the Wilshire Corridor ... not that tall, but up to 25 floors, I believe.

Well, this is actually more square footage than I need, but yes, I could. lol

For almost two decades I live in a 20th floor condominium .... it was just breathtaking! Seeing the sunrise every morning, as well as the weather patterns and sunsets were just amazing.

According to an inspector I knew, he said if there was an earthquake, I was in one of the safest buildings in the city!

I love a great view!

@Tinkrbl44 Lived in Santa Monica for 25 years. At that time, the height limit was 5 or 6 stories (West of Lincoln). The old General Telephone Company building on SM Blvd had a "grandfather" exemption.

I'm on the 23rd floor of our condo and that's a bit too high for me. I can't imagine how much time would be spent on the elevators and if there is ever a problem, I don't even want to think about it.

I worked on the 105th floor of the World Trade Center in the mid 1980s and got stuck on the elevator one day. The next day I quit my job--LOL!!
