2023 Color of the Year BH&G

This is Better Homes and Gardens color of the year, Canyon Ridge. The blue is opposite orange on the color wheel and so designers think this is a wonderful combination. What do you think? I don't think I could paint anything in my house Canyon Ridge, but think it might be a good color for southwest homes. JMO.

@wismiss I only like the color orange in nature: gourds, leaves, birds, etc. I HATE it in clothing or home decor of any kind. And orange and blue -- horrible.

I don't get the blue being called "canyon ridge". That ought to be the orangish color (more canyon-like) Never saw a blue canyon.

I often wear turquoise with a coral print or coral accessories. I love them together. I can think of worse combos than blue and orange but not my favorite.

Other than very dark or very light blues .... not a fan of the color.

No way could I ever live with those colors.

I do like coral and I love turquoise, but since I live in Wisconsin, I don't wear that color combination. Sometimes I think where you live does influence the color combinations you wear or paint your house, etc.

I like the canyon ridge color and I would use it in my home. I would use it with blue but not the bright blue.

@wismiss What a blah color. Looks so anemic and wishy washy to me. I like the vibrant blue better.

I would have used it in limited quantity when I still owned a house in AZ.

I have this color in my home just about 4 1/2 shades lighter. I find it to be warm and comforting.

@wismiss lol. I bet you don't have houses trimmed in turquoise like mine is either.

The color they call orange is very subdued and really more of a coral or clay color, not bright dayglow orange. It works well into a number of color schemes including neutral beiges.

@Kachina624 I like the color coral and have a couple of clothing items that color. Way different from orange and I agree -- have had a couple of cars trips from So. Cal. through AZ and NM and never saw a blue canyon!

I think this is a beautiful color. I'd hardly call it orange -- not even close.

Well I'll be darned, I'm ready for 2023. Who knew my time would come. I'm never on trend.

I painted my LR a similar color to Canyon Ridge (only lighter) about ten years ago. I also have a strange overhang beam from LR to kitchen that I painted a soft, dusky blue, to tie in with my blue leather furniture. Works well with the sandy, peachy color.

Everyone has loved it and several have commented it has a Moroccan vibe. With some of my decorative elements, it does. Plus, it glows beautifully in artificial light, or sun and makes one's complexion look great :-).

I am not a fan of this color. Orange is a color of Autumn coloring which is a small segment of society.

Most people are comfortable in the colors tht are in their
season".

Love that color! It's a peach, salmon or light coral- I don't see orange at all ( although I do like orange)!

Yes, I think it is a great combination. My husband has a "blue" bathroom. It has blue pearl granite, blue slate tiles and we painted the small wall area with a similar color, perhaps not the same name but looks the same color. I had it navy blue before and now we have it in the "clay" color and love it.

Not a fan. I prefer neutrals on my walls with color accents that I can change out for the seasons or my mood.
