ATTRACTION TO CHALETS

Bye, bye, winter-- but I can still never resist a good Swiss chalet-style interior. And recently, I was lucky to come across two of them. But both were in the French alps, not Switzerland!

Here's the living room of one of them. It just feels so cozy to me. Love the pale wood walls, the hearthside antique French chairs mixed with all the comfy deep-dish couches.

I don't have any other pictures of that one. But it's in the Courchevel district, like the one that follows. Courchevel is a big-deal French resort area, apparently, that is located in the Tarentaise Valley in Savoy, France.

This second chalet, also in Courchevel, was designed by British designer Louise Jones. It just knocked my socks off, especially the setting and the views:

I know, we're tired of snow, but what a pretty chalet.

Then you have this vaulted, sun-filled living room. This room would put me in such a good mood, ha.

Kitchen is more intimate, with beams too.

Darling small bathroom.

I'm not sure, but this seems like a second floor den or study. So cozy. Nice alternative to that soaring living room.

I am not a Snow Lover so I would want to visit there with just a covering of snow on the ground for ambiance.

They are both so inviting the 2nd is gorgeous, warm, and inviting and the 1st one is so unusual with the light wood and blue fireplace surround. I like different and that sure is different.

I LOVE her way of decorating! It's comfortable, but not boring. I would have a fieldstone hearth. I could live there if I could get amazon and reception!!!

@Oznell What a beauty! I love snow so having pictures with more of it is beautiful to me. This is one gorgeous getaway! I wouldn't want to live there, but I would definitely like to be able to stay there whenever we want lol. It would make a great family retreat.

I really love the way it is decorated but do agree with @ECBG that I would want a fieldstone hearth. I envision a hearth where I could sit and add a few touches, in the same neutral colors. I love warm and cozy looking fireplaces!

While the rose is a nice touch in the entryway, and I really don't know what other color I would choose, I would choose another color.

That nook is a delight! I can picture it being a fun surprise for the children in the family or even a quiet area to read.

I honestly love this place and thank you for posting! It was a nice little "getaway" today!

@Oznell - love these chalets, especially the first living room and the kitchen. These pictures bring back memories of my trip to the French Alps - Chamonix and the Swiss Alps during July many years ago. The chalets dotted among the beautiful countryside were so picturesque.

I think of a chalet as being the ultimate in cozy and comfortable. Not fancy or ostentatious, but attractive and furnished practically. Kick your boots off, put up your feet and warm them in front of the fire.

The views are spectacular and breath taking! However, the chalet life doesn't do it for me. I like the kitchen and entryway but the rest isn't appealing. Just my opinion.

Both are beautiful, warm and inviting spaces...inside and outside. Our family enjoys outdoor activities...sun or snow and having access to one of these delightful chalets, even for a week, would be a dream vacation. Thanks for sharing.

I think the chalet rustic theme is nice for this setting to me as a vacation home. And I don't know if anyone could deny the views are spectacular and worth the price of admission! They supercede all else!! And I can definitely appreciate the craftsmanship and woodworking skills done here. Personally not a fan of rustic living spaces for my everyday main living spaces though. But again, would be a great getaway!

@twinsister, I never got to that part of France you were in, but am tantalized by it. What a wonderful trip you had, and clearly the French Alps are as beautiful in July as in January. (More so for me actually-- I tend to like snow only in small, picturesque, quickly-vanishing doses, ha.)
