For me I would get the 6 tube one.

The description for them is very poor with very little information. I would want to know what they are made of, if they are rust proof. I would also like to know the diameter and length of the tubes, not just the over all size.

Years ago I had a handmade very large wind chime that was turned to a perfect C. It was some type of wood. I really enjoyed it. But it was stolen.

QVC has two different offerings of the 36-inch Marigold wind chimes--one that has 5 rods and one with 6 rods. Just wondering if having an extra rod would produce an even prettier sound, or would there be no discernible difference. Would appreciate opinions on this to help me choose which chime to get. Thanks.

I don't see any wind times described as having "rods". What's the item #?

@Kachina624 --M79056 has 6 rods, or you might know them better as tubes (can be called either), and M65532 has 5. Both designs are pretty and both are priced exactly the same. The key difference is the number of tubes. That's what I'm wondering about--would having that extra tube produce a more beautiful sound.

@qualityshopper Here is something that I found. I know it doesn't specifically answer your question about the # of tubes, but it might be helpful. It's from wonderopolis dot org. I prefer the shorter tubes (not too short) to the long ones because I like the higher sound more than the deeper sound of the very long tubes.

"In general, the larger and longer the tubes are, the lower and deeper the sounds will be. Short, narrow tubes will tend to produce higher pitches. Aluminum wind chimes tend to provide the longest and loudest sounds.

Metal and wooden wind chimes made with specifically-sized tubes can be tuned to particular notes. Wind chimes made out of seashells or glass, on the other hand, can't be tuned to particular notes and may produce a range of sounds from pleasant tinkling to noisy clanging."

She didn't get any more specific. Like you, I'm leaning towards the one with 6 tubes, but I'm not absolutely sure. Sorry that the chimes you liked were stolen. I worry that, whichever one I get, the same thing might happen. I hope not!
