This looks very nice & I like the colors. The sofas & 2 chairs are placed well for conversations, but the loveseat alone against the wall, under the red painting puzzles me; maybe a chest would've been my choice there.

@Desert Lily I like the loveseat placement. It makes kind of a nook if someone wants to sit away from the "crowd". I'd love it.

Hi @Love my grandkids I thought about the loveseat being a place to read, but it's set too close to the conversation(s) going on in the room. It gives me an atmosphere of the person sitting there is being shunned or is shunning others, uninviting. Just my take on the placement of the loveseat.

@Desert Lily That's why I like the posts with decor photos. It's interesting how we all have a different take on the same room! thanks for your input Being me, I would like a little corner where I could go and just sit and not have to interact if I didn't feel like it!

I really don't see anything in this room that says "craftsman" except maybe the beamed ceiling, which could include almost any period in history. Certainly neither the furniture, fireplace, carpet or wall paneling is not craftsman. It's all very blah and generic. Craftsman is one of my favorite periods, and this is disappointing.

@Love my grandkids I like the placement but I would add a reading lamp. Nice space to curl up with a great book.

Beautiful room. Ample sitting for entertaining and looks like there french doors which lead to a patio to extend the living room.

Thank you for posting, really enjoy these interior photos. This is a lovely spacious room, nice neutrals, and good views.

The Craftman style is my favorite, and always dream home. To me, I don't see the traditional Craftman style. The window frames are not as usual, the mantel and fire surround are not conventional. Maybe this was the intent of the updating, a new way of seeing this beauty.

I'll keep dreaming about the original.

I like the room-- colors and light especially.

As for that loveseat -- it's the right size for that area, but it feels a bit odd. It would be interesting to know who chose its placement and what they had in mind.

Here is the description I read under the picture:

The orange and turquoise accent colors used in this living area gives the space a brighter, more youthful vibe, despite the classic craftsman style of interior architecture. Dark oak floors matches the wooden beam finish, while the walls are paneled in white-painted wood with medallion accents, giving it a more neo-classic look. Furniture pieces are mostly Spanish-inspired, with dark hardwood legs and neutral-colored upholstery.

I agree. I'm not sure they have a true craftsman look and they did venture pretty far from it. I love craftsman, too. I'm not sure what you call this but it has elements of several different styles. I'm assuming it's another one of those "mixed styles" with (probably) whatever name you want to give it! Ha!

Beuatiful room ,a dn I really like it, however I would find a better spot for the loveseat against the wall....Other than that a very nice room that is decorated very nice without being over the top!

I think you might be right about the loveseat. I'm wondering if it is an antique that they just could not part with?

I am going through that now since my mother passed away about a month ago. I inherited a beautiful sewing chest (it was my grandmother's) and struggled to find a place for it. I finally did....in my greatroom. It may seem a little "out of place" but it gives me pleasure to look at it. Mom and Grandma were both accomplished seamstresses and it's the only place I had to put it. Oh, the memories it holds.

I like the room but the loveseat looks like it is sitting in a Lobby..the placement is off for me.

I would like to see just cross beams and not the entire ceiling done in beams as it is now.

I do love the colors used, the fireplace, and the pretty french doors going out to the patio.

The ceiling is beautiful along with the windows (or are those French doors....I can't tell for sure). The decor itself is nicely done but it's just not my style and, overall, is too neutral for me. I do not like this type of wainscoting (I believe that's what it is called) on the walls whatsoever.
