GLOBE TROTTER'S ROW HOUSE KITCHEN

At first, I thought it was an apartment kitchen, but-- the view through some of the windows, the narrowness of rooms, double height living room, and the fact that the designer, Meredith Heron, seems to specialize in Victorian row houses in Toronto, convinced me it was that, and not an apartment.

The kitchen's a sleek galley like space, but unlike some others, I don't get claustrophobia with it. I like the way that storage doors are built into the side of the oven wall, using every inch of space.

Pretty pale blue cupboards.

One of the many things that "makes" this for me, is the wonderful 'movement' of the veining in the marble-- it's such a beautiful natural stone, filled with character!

And that hammered sink, oh my! I love "hammered" texture in anything. See how close the neighbor's brick wall is through the window-- that was one of the things that made me think this is a row house.

Despite it being a relatively small and narrow first floor, there seem to be two eating areas-- this casual, light-filled breakfast area:

And this moody-dining-room-with-wine-cellar-overtones.

Such an interesting use of space.

The dining room/"wine cellar", looking toward the double height living room.

Even a small powder room makes use of refined materials and finishing touches...

This one I thought was interesting to look at because she said that the owners were world travellers, and wanted their renovated space to reflect that. Whether their artifacts have personal appeal or not, I think the space succeeds in suggesting a perch for owners who love far-flung destinations...

The other, fireplace end of the compact living room.

I like the way she combined blue, and that deep emerald of the pillows. The owner's travel mementos are part of the decor, reminding them of the places they've lived.

I love the intricacies of the beautiful rug, seen here in better close-up.

It was that little gem of a kitchen that drew me in, but the rest of the row house struck me as interesting and rather exotic.

That narrow living space is beautifully done. I just love it. The kitchen is extra nice. The marble and blue cabinets go really well together and the hammered sink adds so much personality.

Toronto is a nice location as well. There is nothing I don't like about this townhouse.

It's all nicely done and well appointed, but a bit too sleek, grey and contemporary for me to really like it.

I love it all! Especially the eating areas and kitchen and the little bathroom (if you have a tiny bath room, I'm a real believer of go big or go wild). You hear them referred to as jewel boxes! They should delight the eye and make you either love it or hate it! But at least come away with something to think about.

I love the dishes too!

When I read the title, that is the first thing that came to mind.

But then I realized that a globetrotter is a person who is well traveled.

Really like the kitchen and that living room rug is beautiful! And do I see a TV, yea. The dining room is a bit dark for me but very interesting. Very well put together IMO.

The kitchen is lovely, the marble beautiful, the color of the cabinets so appealing and I do love the fact of the dining table and chairs fitting in even though the kitchen is compact. I would enjoy my coffee in that cozy space.

The rest of the home is nice, it is neat and everything in place. While I love huge rooms and prefer my own decor this home has its perks.

@Oznell - I'm with @just bee - I'm usually not a "blue" person at all, but I love the colors in this. I really like the emerald pillows combined with the blue. The living room drapes are perfect, and I think the rug is just perfect.

Brilliant considering the space...love the marble in the kitchen and color choices throughout. I would rethink the curtain in the kitchen....a bit claustrophobic having a view of the brick wall. It would not be my choice for a home but, considering the space limitations, well done.

very pretty and very nicely finished!!! Beautiful kitchen, and living room is nice as well. Some of the decor is not necessarily my style, but goes well in this home...I think it is very tastefully done..

My DS and DIL just remodeled their kitchen and installed a hammered sink. It is lovely.

From my experience in our home remodel, if you like the look of marble, you are much better off with quartz. It is tougher, and you can find patterns that look like marble. We chose that for our bath vanities and are very happy.

I really like the kitchen. The sinks shown in the kitchen and bath are fantastic.

I love the colors used but the decor is not really my style.

I think this home is very well done.

Hey, @Mz imac, I think I confused a few people with my "globe trotter" comment-- you made a natural inference. It's not so far-fetched either, that a Harlem Globetrotter would have a little 'pied-a-terre' hideaway in Toronto. He'd have to have all the counter tops raised ....

Oh, your lucky son and daughter-in-law, @PamfromCT . That hammered surface just glimmers, and gives a jewel- like effect-- jewelry for the kitchen!

What a mega talented designer did this home!!! The colors connected beautifully from room to room and the color accessories are perfect.

Even though I am not a fan of modern, I could almost live here with a few accessory changes.
