I would like to see a move to 'nature' or natural. I'm not talking about log cabins or sea shells in a jar. Natural Chic, like the movement toward hardwood floors, granite countertops, cotton or bamboo fine linens, etc. A beautiful look with products made from natural sources, being creative and using unusual renewable resources to produce even practical everyday items. It could include taking items from the past and updating them or creating new concepts.

Any thoughts on what the next big thing is going to be in the home décor world? While I do still love mercury glass, it is starting to be overdone. Goodness knows there is always something else waiting in the wings as the next big thing, so what is it going to be?

Hard to know...I can't believe bird-themed items have been popular this long. I love them, but most fads/trends play out much more quickly.

My guess is that is will be just something from the past, probably the 1950's or later, that is getting a new twist. Seems like nothing in home decor is "new" anymore, but a redone design or color scheme from the past. Like the whole turquoise/teal fad that is reminiscent of the 1950's.

I don't know about what the next thing will be, but I know what I'd love to retire...zig-zag or "chevron" print. It's everywhere from decor, clothing, accessories, flooring, etc. It's nauseating. Charlie Brown knew what was in before it was cool!

As to what I'd like to see, a pale or sheer plaid in hues of orange, spice and yellow for autumn. Like a pale tartan plaid in those colors. Or one of those colors in a pillow or throw here or there. Just a splash. Not like a bomb went off like the whole zig-zag craze. Like the sun filtering down through the forest canopy. It's there that you notice more than if you are in the full glare of the sun.

In home decor or style, a simple, less is more approach. Like you'd see in a Martha Stewart Living magazine. Similar to a farmhouse style. Simple. I think that's why so many are drawn to a model home. They are overdone with art, bric-a-brac or photos. Not a cold minimalist style, but simple farmhouse look. Like our great-grandmothers may have had. I'm not sure if that make sense or not.

Wallpaper is definitely back as are white kitchens. I was told by a decorator friend that plaid furniture is coming back too . I think those who like shabby chic have not ever gotten rid of it.

I decorated our new camper this year in country style. Not 1980s country but 2014 country and I am loving it.Warm and cozy.
