Before and After...

Ever notice how most before and after articles rarely show the room from the same angle, so making comparisons is really a bit hit or miss? Oh well, here are a few, just for fun... From an artilce in Southern Homes... More of the same home perhaps coming up later...

If the first pix are the "befores" I prefer the befores to the afters!!!

The only thing I personally like in any of the before & afters is the stunning blue wall color in the dining room. Love it!!! Not sold on the wall mural though. Other than that if it it makes them happy, great!

I only like a few things in the after photos. The befores don't look terrible to me. I don't like the iron staircase banisters...the white wood looks so much fresher. The dark "Tuscany" effect is way out of mode now,,,,very dated. But not sure when these were taken, maybe they were considered updated then.

I think the afters are horrible. The second ones are the afters? Really? That striped wall and ugly pictures are after?

I don't care for the after in the first (foyer) picture. Not a fan of the striped wallpaper, and think that photograph groupings look better on a solid color wall. Also, in that large photo grouping, I think I'd elect to have frames of all one color.

I think the bathroom and dining room re-dos are beautiful.

In each case, I think there was an improvement, except the staircase. That would be my least favorite, as I'm not fond of those kind of massed photo groupiings, nor of the wall paper, nor of the stair runner. But the move to wooden spindles WAS good, as it better reflects the traditional direction of the house, rather than the metal ones.

In my opinion "afters" for the most part lifted the spaces out of that standard, "generic" look. The dining room especially, has acquired a dramatic panache.

In this case, if it were me living there, I would have stayed with the befores.

The entry and stairway reminds me of the 1980s Dallas tv show. Not that unusual for a Southern home, I suppose.

I prefer the staircase in the before, the bath- before and after are fine with me, and the Dining Room-I think I like the before with different furniture. The after with the built in and murals make the room look much more closed in and smaller...I like open and airy.

Like but not love the after dining room and foyer. I do like that some color was added Don't like any of the before pictures, nor the after bathroom.

I really like th entryway in the before much better than the after. The other two rooms I don't care for either one.
