Narrow apartment kitchen

This is a galley kitchen in a 1000 sq ft apartment.

I thought it was an interesting contrast to the large luxury kitchens we often see in these threads. There is a separate dining area but not an eat-in space within the kitchen itself.

Eta: Found another angle; less claustrophobic.

I love a galley or U-shaped kitchen. Everything within reach, minimal walking and mopping, but plenty of counter space. Those big kitchens can be slick and gorgeous but give me practicality.

@GingerPeach Like it, especially the light neutrals in a small space, really opens it up.

I like galley kitchens as long as no one is in there with me. My first place when I was first married had one.

Everything is with reach. It is a very nice kitchen. I like the neutral color palette.

My last remodel of the kitchen was a U-shaped work area. Half like a galley: left wall has a double wall oven, sink, surrouned by two work areas; center has a drop in stove surrounded with corner work areas; right side has a large work space with window ending with large rerigerator. So it's sort of a half galley.

The other half has eating area and a deep storage cabinet. It works beautifully with minimal steps taken. Sounds confusing but it works!

Nope Nope Nope! Had one in a former house and would not want one ever again!

And this one is even more claustrophobic than mine was.

Beautiful! Would be good enough for me, especially in a small house, and especially since I don't do much cooking. I find "open concept" spaces extremely noisy. JMO.

I'm not particularly fond of *great rooms* where the kitchen, a dining area and a family room is all opened up into one big room.

However, I find a kitchen, no matter how exquisite, is very claustrophobic without windows and better yet, a kitchen door. Skylights would never be an option I'd consider, either.

I would have to open up the entire area so that natural light would somehow brighten up the kitchen.

It's a good use of space if necessary but I like open, airy, windows, and room to move so this isn't for me.

Although it's beautiful, I just wouldn't want to spend much time in that space.

I like it especially since it's in a small apartment.

leaves more space for other rooms.

I could see DH and I having a kitchen like this.

This is a great kitchen for the amount of sq. ft. in this place. I notice a nice dining room where you can eat looking outside. I really like that, too. I like eating away from the "mess" of my kitchen especially if you can eat where there's a view.

We are looking to purchase an apartment in NYC and these kitchens are pretty spacious for a city apartment! I would love any of them!

I don't mind the size of this kitchen as much as I don't care for the cabinetry, counter, and backsplash choices. Separately they are fine; I just don't like them together.

This is very pretty, and a very well done space. Love the appliances and the color is light and bright, so it doesn't seem stuffy and closed in at all.

Love the cabinets as well.....Do not like the counter tops!

For small kitchens, bright and airy is the way to go! Personally have first hand experience with a very dark wood small kitchen total gut job that is now all white cabinets & literally everyone comments how it looks sooo much bigger (that saw the "before"). So that is HUGE for small areas, especially with no windows. Thankfully I have a kitchen window!

My only comment would be that I would love to see a window, to help open the space-but it might not be feasible if this is in an apartment or the wall placement is all inside (kitchen is not against an outer wall). The glass cabinets also help open the space. I'd change the countertop per my personal preferences.

I have lived in small spaces before and have never had a galley kitchen. I do not like them because they look so cramped.
