NAPA VALLEY RANCH

While modern architecture and interiors are not my thing, this impeccable ranch caught my eye.

The great room benefits by having windows on both sides. Those polished stone floors are stunning. I like the arch.

But it also has a more "enclosed", cozy living and dining space.

The breakfast porch has a panoramic view of surrounding acreage and olive trees... The paint color is Benjamin Moore's historic shade, "Grant Beige".

Speaking of Grant Beige, several of the spaces lean toward a warm color palette, which recently has been hard to do and still look up-to-date. But these designers pull it off, in my opinion.

The kitchen is one of my favorites; feels earthy but has plenty of natural light:

This bathroom has one of those Japanese soaking tubs. I'd break my neck, but like the idea of it!

The walnut screen motif seems to recur in the house. Walnut is such a warm wood-- looks neat with the polished stone in some spaces.

More of the walnut, a shuttered effect.

The house has such serene surroundings.

A sheltered dining spot, under an arbor and trees, and floored with crunchy gravel. What a great spot to either work, or daydream too.

Even though for day-to-day living I need more of a traditional surrounding, I find this kind of "mellow" and organic-- like a house that is also a spa! Perfect for the California wine country.

Do you ever find a design style that appeals to you, despite not being your personal favorite?

Personally, I do see spaces I like but I wouldn't want to live in for any length of time.

I have always been extremely visual.

@Oznell To answer your question....Yes, I do find many styles of decor that I like but wouldn't want full time. These pictures are an example of that. I think this home is beautiful, however, I need something old and things that promote memories of days gone by added into any mix of style I choose. The older I get the more my style becomes the updated version of "whatever I like"!

This looks like a relaxing, serene place to be. I would make a few changes, but overall, I like it.

I love it, and would love it as a vacation home, perfect for a retreat to get away from it all for a while! I could stay a good month here-no problem!

I really like this beautiful home. It would be a perfect Vacation Home.

The only thing I would change is the the furniture in the Great Room. It doesn't look comfortable. I would want overstuffed furniture that you could really relax in.

I think it is beautiful home. I could live there w/ no problem at all. Well, maybe the property taxes would pose a problem.

As far as other styles I like, but wouldn't want for my home, there are many. For example, I'm not a fan of rustic, but when I see it done well, I think ahhhh, now that looks serene.

The biggest thing for me is color ... I don't personally want to live in rooms that are painted in dark colors. Mainly because I live in PNW and it can be gray here for months ... I want light and bright. But I do go to other homes painted in dark colors and think it looks nice, but it's just not for me (I know because I've tried).

I do occasionally find myself drawn to spaces and elements different from my typical preferences. This home, however, is not one of those occasions. Despite some clearly fine elements, overall, this one doesn't resonate with me.

Tweaks of the living & dining rooms but in different colors & with darker wood is actually my style! Not a fan of wicker furniture or that bathtub, but it flows with the home pictured.

I love most of it, great room seating needs to be more comfy, and the couches near the walnut shutters needs to be more comfortable seating. LOVE the kitchen and breakfast room. Not sure I want the shower being open without a ledge to hold the water from going all over the place. I would prefer a large glass enclosed shower. The outside surroundings are serene and beautiful.

I do like this house, very spacious and pretty furnishings. It does give off a tranquil feeling, a place to relax. I do like my privacy so there would be change in that area.

All in all I do admire this look while not my favorite and I can appreciate different designs.

I'm not usually a fan of modern style, but I really like the architecture of this home. The outdoor spaces & views are gorgeous. I like most of the interior rooms, but a bit more color in furnishings or accessories would make it more my style. My least favorite things are the living room furniture and the bathtub.

I can appreciate and like a home that is nicely designed & decorated even if it's not my style. I wouldn't necessarily say those homes appeal to me though. I can usually find some elements I like in most cases.

It would be a really nice place to vacation but I wouldn't want it as my home. The house, itself, is fine but I'd have to demo a lot of the interior.

While this might not be my favorite style, I could easily live comfortably in this house. I can't even imagine how many millions of dollars it cost to buy the property and completely reconfigure it the way they did.
