@lolakimono I like the reds in the carpet but IMO the red lantern, candles in the overhead light, box on coffeetable and blanket on the sofa arm don't do anything for the room. It is a nice room though. I would change out those four elements to white.

I think it is a perfect accent color. The placement wakes the otherwise mundane room up.

I had to edit to clarify I was referencing the red as an accent color. I love the color blue it is so soothing to me, so I do like the combination.

I think I was expecting something warmer.

I would call this room more "salmon and gray".

It's okay, but doesn't make much of an impression on me. It's probably just me, though, since I find so much of today's interiors kind of lackluster, I guess you'd say. I think I'm still stuck in the past.

The colors are rather blah. I just don't care for the furnishings at all. Not what I would select for a comfy lake house effect.

I think the room is beautiful and I like the red accents. The only thing I would replace is the red candles on the light fixture ... they seem too small for the size of the light fixture and height of room.

I don't mind the splashes of color. I just don't like anything about how the room is put together. There's too much going on, too much stuff, and none of it fits the cozy, relaxed vibe that the stone fireplace and wood paneling give. Even the chandelier doesn't work with the beam work.

Sorry, but I would remove everything and give that room a cozier look. I do like the view though!

The red and blue color accents would not be my first choice. But hey, if I were forced to live there, I guess I could somehow manage to suffer through it. 😁

@lolakimono Well, I would use chairs with upholstered arms that lend themselves to curling up with a book by that fireplace. I would use a coffee table that isn't so harsh looking, maybe a big upholstered ottoman instead. I would have a more traditional sofa without the tufted back, a sofa with separate cushions for the back and seat. None of the current seating has a convenient place for putting a drink down so maybe appropriate tables that wouldn't overcrowd the room. How about a lamp on the sofa table and maybe move the floor lamp next to one of the chairs. I think I would keep the space open in front of the windows. Hard to get a good perspective of that area from the picture. I would use non-patterned curtains. Definitely change that chandelier. I think this is a hard room to figure out funiture placement though. You've got to consider the two focal points, the fireplace and the view outside. Tough room!

How'd I do??? 😉

Like the bones, and the views.

I would switch the navy fabric with another color, replace the metal tables with wood, change out the two arm chairs for some nice snuggly ones. Add useful accent lamps, and some black.

The red accents are too dinky for the space, and the middle area is lacking any red at all, what there is of it is orange. The candles in red add nothing as a pop, change to white, better still, delete them as they are useless.

I like navy and red, but the particular shades of blue and red used in that room don't work for me. I'm not a fan of the furniture either. I'll take the shell of the room with the view, though.

The rest, most everything inside looks like a hodge podge of just stuff.
