Agreed @Vivian @lolakimono If there are horses, I want to think this place is out west. I do enjoy how westerners decorate their homesteads.

#3--the others are very fancy. Very nice but not for me.Not a fireplace fan anyway but looks like #3 is a gas one maybe? I could do that one.

Depends on the overall style design of the home. I do like all 3 .

#2 is my most liked .

#2 is a nice modern French Country Estate look with a home that has a room with arched wood ceiling . I do like the mantel design.

#3 looks Nordic with the horse , a simplistic design from Norway or Sweeden.

I'd say #3, with the carousel-type horses, @lolakimono

The elements above the fireplaces in the other images seem too heavy to read homey. If I lived there, I'd feel a "burden," almost a danger of them falling, and that's not what you want at home no matter where you live.

I mean, we just experienced a tiny earthquake in my area a couple of days ago.

Number three is the one for me. It's the most casual and homey. The first two are too cluttered for me.

Homey means casual, even though the rest of the house could be more formal, the room with the fireplace is the room you want to put your feet up in and relax, and picture number three seems the most likely place to do that.

Number 2 has shown up before because I remember discussing the piece over the fireplace. I think "homey" means different things to different people. I can see how some would choose number 3, but since I don't care for number 3 it isn't homey to me. I like the first two; the first one is the most interesting, and probably my favorite; but I think number 2 is "homier."

#3 has a folk art look to it which makes it look very homey. The others, especially #2, are too refined and elegant. Love Sarah Richardson too.

@lolakimono None of them. I couldn't live in any of these rooms. Nothing homey about them IMO.

There is no generic "homey" look I guess. Nothing about 3 says homey to me. I was raised in a very old small house, but nothing about the inside looked like #3.

My mom was into contemporary furniture (not expensive but modern style) with a hard tile floor in the den, colorful contemporary kitchen, and furniture more in the style of the chairs in the first picture.

I could live in the first two, but I think spiders when I see rustic with rough wood and boards. Actually it reminds me more of the barn. . . LOL!!!

You're right, observant @faeriemoon -- I posted #2 a while back, but from a slightly different angle.

Even so, I think of these three I like #1 the best. I'm mad for marble, and the carved wood fragment and the round coffee table help bring it "down to earth" for me. I could be super cozy in one of those fireside armchairs.

I think they're all pleasant rooms though.

As a side note, I check in on Sarah Richardson periodically, and as far as I can tell, she's gone all in on "bright white" with a lot of her projects. I've always liked soft white, but to me, the generic, blanket "white everywhere" look has been too much done.
