What special dinnerware/dishes or other plates/bowls and serving pieces do you use during the holidays?

Do you use special glasses? Silverware?

I have nice Dansk dinnerware I use everyday and for holidays. However, I do have a small set (svc for 4) of Christmas dishes that someone mentioned here as a special at Boscov's several years ago. My set has a cardinal design but there were several choices. I paid $3.99 with free shipping. I use them a lot in winter and there is not even one single chip on any piece.

@Kachina624 I have the same dishes as per someone on here mentioning them at Boscov's. Same price. They are beautiful.

My grandparents and parents had "special" holiday dishes.

I can't think of anyone I know who does that today.

I use my everyday dishes. They are a cream color and I like that I can use them for them for every occassion themed to what I need at the time. I do have beautiful Lenox china. It's plain by many standards, white with silver. I never used it. I have it in my dining room hutch and it looks so nice and I enjoy it that way.

Our white dishes can be accessorizied according to the holiday.

I still like cloth napkins in colors that match the season, and flowers that do the same.

Little trinkets on the table, ribbons, etc. help with the holiday decore -- and all take up very little space when I store them.

I not only have the Christmas dishes @Kachina624 posted, but I have summer dishes that are light blue depression glass, fall dishes Apple Franciscan Ware, and Snowmen dishes for the winter. A set for each season!

LOVE these and have never seen them! I also loved the cardninal with red ribbon Lenox came out with! They would be perfect with my primitives!

You bring your dishes, and I'll make our Thanksgiving dinner! How about that???

This subject of "dishes" has always been a hoot in our marriage!

DH and I started out with Yorktowne by Pfaltzgraff and had bought some to put back before we married.

Through the years, he got very adjusted to the bowls and loved the way they felt in his hand when he had cereal. In the 1980's I added extra serving pieces.

He would never let me change! I did find several other sets I really liked. No way!

I did find the perfect handmade dishes for my primitive house. This Is Red Bow by Heartstone. All of the white accents are raised.

Having loved dishes and inherited dishes I have:

Lenox Holiday and tartan sets that mix and match.

Spode Holiday--lots of this and serving pieces and many cups to use with a punch bowl.

A mix of Williams-Sonoma and Ralph Lauren tartan dishes.

I might go with the tartan ones this year. They are so very pretty. But the Lenox is beautiful. Spode is fun and if I ever have another holiday party that's the one!

And I do have Lenox glasses but I don't remember what kind.

It's pretty much these for the winter season, Snow Bear by Pfaltzgraff. I went nuts a few years back and have a boatload of it. Thankfully I still really love it.

And for Thanksgiving it's another Pfaltzgraff pattern called Plymouth. I like these, too, but for some reason the plates do tend to show knife blade marks which I don't like at all.

I'm one of those that still drag out the China. I use it at all the Holidays we have people over for dinner. My mom did it and she been gone for 32 years and I do it in memory of her.

I had a set of holiday dishes but when I stopped having people over for Christmas I gave the dishes away. For quite a number of years I spend the holiday with very close friends who are my family.

I love all the dishes shown and the glass ware, just so lovely. For me it isn't practical but I do admire the beauty of having such place settings.

@ECBG I used to have that Pfaltzgraff pattern when I married in 1974. When my son got married I let them have the set as they didn't have any. They never bought any dishes and after they were divorced SHE took the dishes, never gave them back to me. What a crock!

For the Christmas season I use Temp-Tations Holiday with the little critters for every day. For Christmas day I use Lenox Holiday. I have an affinity for dishes. I have Old Country Roses for Thanksgiving. And Polish stoneware sets for most of the year. And I have Tempt-Tations Fall for the Fall. As I said I love dishes.

For years and years, I've bought the holiday paper plates from Big Lots and that's what we've used.
