HISTORIC QUOGUE, NEW YORK BEACH HOUSE

It is considered a beach house, but it's old, East Coast style. I really enjoy this designer, CeCe Barfield Thompson, whose rooms I think I've posted here before.

I like the way you can peek into that moody dining room, from the bright sitting room.

The other end of the spacious living room, a chess game set up and ready to go...

This must be another sitting room, with a bit warmer palette. Cozy.

Yummy slate or bluestone floors in powder room.

There are more standard, luxurious bathrooms in the house, but I like this simple, slant-ceiling one with the penny tile floors.

I imagine very few modern beach houses have fun, quirky attic hideaways like this:

Despite the age of the house, the tradtional touches everywhere, and the antiques, it just seems fresh, unpretentious, and charming-- a good seaside respite.

I love this! I find the light fixtures interesting, as for the decor, I wouldn't have to change much at all if I was moving in

This is absolutely lovely. I don't think I would change a thing. I love the colors used, the flow, and the furniture compliments the older structure, floors etc.

I would love to see the exterior and outdoor surroundings. I am wondering if it is waterfront.

I love the living room, especially the sofas style and pattern. Beautiful room, nice mix of colors. Very New England home.

I think it's lovely. It looks like a home my mother would have decorated and lived in.. a cozy feel to it.

I love the wide plank flooring, all the beadboard walls, and wall- papers. And I'm especially drawn to both bathrooms !!

Lovely home!

I love the foyer, sitting room, living room, dining room & kitchen. Most of the furnishings and accessories are nice too. I like the infusion of color in most of the spaces.

I'm not a fan of the printed sofa or wallpapers though. The pink and blue bedrooms aren't my style either.

@Oznell - Thank you for posting pictures of this beautiful house!

I'm not really a "blue" person, so some of the rooms are a little too blue for me! I could live with the foyer, but would start to alter colors in the sitting room. I LOVE the warm colors in the second sitting room, with the touches of green, and the bedroom. The bathroom is perfect!

Looks like a great older house with some lovely elements and some nice rooms. Overall, I'd change a good bit and while I'm not sold on their aesthetic it's still, a nice looking home.

I love it! My husband's aunt had a beach cottage in Quogue and we spent many happy summer vacations there with her.

Looking at the pictures definitely gives a feeling of a beach home. It is beautifully decorated, furnishings just lovely. Warm and comfortable looking with all the charm and character of a home by the sea! I would be very relaxed and content in this home!

I like nearly all of it. The colour pallate, the crown molding. I just don't like curved archways. I like a wood framed "archway". I could be pursuaded to spend a week or two during the summer season.
