Need to Purchase Blinds for 13 Windows!

We moved into our home about 8 years ago. It has a 4-season room that was added on to it probably about 25 years ago. I'm thinking that the blinds may be the original blinds that the previous owners had installed when the room was built. They still look nice, but due to age things are getting brittle and breaking. I took one blind in for repair last year and it cost about $100 to repair. Today 2 more blinds broke, so I guess it's time to just get new ones.

I will need to replace blinds for 13 windows! I've never purchased blinds before and don't even know where to start. Do you have any recommendations as to who I should contact?

I did see on the Facebook page for our town that there is a company in town that is owned by a husband and wife and they do everything. They come to your house to sell the blinds and they also do the installation. They have lots of wonderful reviews, so I may give them a try.

Are there any large chains like Home Depot, Eddie Z Blinds, etc. that you've tried and recommend?

J.C Penny's sell blinds. They will send someone to your home to take measurments, give recommendations & will have color & style samples (catalog) of the blinds of your choice.

I have used them 3xs. Was more than satisfied.

@BunSnoop I like the sound of the turn key blind company in your local town. I have purchased Home Depot's white wood-look vinyl blinds that they cut to fit in the store. Getting someone to hang them is a pain, but they do the job once they are installed.

I used JC Penny's for our sunroom blinds, NO problems at all. 8 room darkening and they raise and lower with your hand, no pulled, strings etc.

I've found that if you have access to a team who will do the measuring , delivering , installing and have excellent legit reviews than I'd go with them . Some other places such as Home Depot & Lowe's may say they have qualified contractors they refer you to but I do know of some family that were really dissatisfied ,

Smith & Noble have had their blinds on sale , but you need to measure and install or pay someone to do so.

@BunSnoop. We purchased blinds from Home Depot. We have the wood look and they've lasted 10+ years. DD used JC Penny about 12 years ago and hers are also in very good condition. Good luck to you.

Our Penny's store didn't have hardly any customers 5 years ago when I worked in the same mall, so I would check that store's solidarity before I order since supply might be an issue.

Home Depot is a much stronger company and more likely to get stock if they have what you want.

@BunSnoop Get at least two estimates. I purchased my blinds from Home Depot and everything was perfect fit.

When I moved into my house I contacted a Hunter Douglas dealer. He came out to my house to measure and show samples. Then he placed the order and came back to install them. He did not subcontract. You can enter your zip code on the Hunter Douglas site to find local dealers near you.

Look for Budget Blinds

We have had excellent service with them several times, and despite their name, they offer quality products in all price ranges and styles.

They did plantation shutters for our home - excellent.

I like the sound of LOCAL. They will come to your house, show you everything that's available, you might want to change the look?

After they give you a price, ask them for perhaps a senior discount if it applies, ask them for a multi window discount and maybe upfront they will give you all the discounts they can.

I spent the money for a battery operated blind in the kitchen, press the button and it goes up, press the button and it goes down. Really convenient and nice!

Let up know what you decide.

I have used both JCPenney and Home Depot and had no problems they were all custom, someone came out to measure and to install. Pleased with both sources. However the poster above was correct in that I am not sure that department exisits in JCPenney now.

I also went with Budget Blinds. A husband and wife who own the local franchise happen to live nearby. He took care of measuring, installing and even moved the old cellular shades to other rooms. No errors made on my faux wood blinds. His professional opinion also helped me in making the right selection for my kitchen dining area. I'm sure my local Home Depot would have been cheaper, but I needed custom measurements for my double width side by side double hung windows and a matching third smaller window. I was pleased enough to have them come back several months later when BB was featuring their annual sale prices (February) to do matching windows in the dining room.

That was in 2018/ 2019. I shudder to think of what 13 windows would cost today! I paid over $700.00 each time for my blinds, and they are not anything fancy.

I used Home Depot and they sent someone to my home to show me what was available, They also installed the ones I selected, and they did a beautiful job. Very pleased.

Years ago, I used Budget Blinds here in arizona. I believe they are a franchise. I received good service and a good product. You might want to get a bid from them if there is one in your area.

I used Lowe's online ordering and bought light filtering cordless shades. They fit perfectly and I'm very happy with the value.

I hope that was a typo who said they paid 700 per blind?? Don't know where they live, but in my area of PA $700 gets you a brand new window including installation and it actually cost me much less than that! If they're happy, guess that's all that matters.

Home Depot cordless top down/bottom up cellular shades were about $50 each (2-3 years ago when purchased). Just measure the interior part of your window. They are cut to size if not standard & in my opinion look great! At least half a dozen people who saw them couldn't believe the price & were going to get them for their own home! I had my handyman install or if you have one, they could measure too for you & purchase.

Costco is great (if you have them in your area) They often have a sale and the rep comes to your home and helps you decide and then they will install.
