Get rid of the coffee table, that orange thing on the wall and all but a couple of sofa pillows and it wouldn't be bad. The sofa is transitional.

That room doesn't remind me of the '70's at all.

Many of the 70's LR's and dens had plastic coffee tables or blonde furniture.

@stevieb. Get rid of those drapes and that macrame wall hanging to start. A few tweeks here and there could really help.

Those drapes remind me of the 70's as they're pretty similar to what I grew up with. Hated them then and now.

The 70's green was avocado green and the closest in this photo is the drapes.and the plant. I lived in the 70's for the whole 10 years of it. Avocado and orange. If the 70's want it back I'll hand it over to them on a silver platter. Even our phone was avocado green and all the appliances too. So much for the good ole 70's LOL The wall hanging has got to go too!

It seems some of us remember the 70's VIBE differently than do others... No, this is not an exact replica of what we might have seen in home decor during that decade, but for some of us, there's a similarity... No worries, it's all good...

@grandma r @Leeny @Kachina624 We agree on that dreadful wall hanging. It was that, the colors and all the plants that read the '70's to me... No, of course, most of the individual furniture pieces don't specifically read the 1970's...

I remember the 70's decor using olive green, orange, brown, and harvest gold - sort of earthy colors.

IMO, this is inspired by the 70's and updated. Macrame is back, terrariums & house plants are back, and orange is back ... for now.

I saw a couple of palm curtains similar to those in the posted picture while I was window treatment shopping online.

I like it all, except for that wall hanging. It really looks out of place and that someone didn't know what to do with it and just stuck it there. To me it resembles the seventies, but better.

I like the rug and the couch (sans the pillows they've chosen.)

I don't care for the overall look of the space. Whichever era was the inspiration, the room looks dated to me.

Nope. Blonde furniture was big in the 50's. My grandmother had a bedroom and living room full of it mixed in with her mahogany furniture from the 40's. I still have some of her furniture, and I'm pushing 80. In the 70's all of us young couples had Mediterranean furniture with that lovely shag carpet and dark paneling. 😄

Doesn't anyone remember the shag carpeting from the 1960's and 70's? My MIL was SO proud of her harvest gold mess. It was the ugliest carpeting I'd ever seen!

I wish I had a room like that while growing up in the 70's. What I remember of the 70's is ugly linoleum flooring and avocado green kitchen appliances. I also remember couches with monochromatic flower patterns on shiny material with plastic coverings of course.
