Wow I honestly don't like either. The first one is too much ornateness, the mirrors are ridiculously huge. The second one too modern for me. So uninviting.

I like the before better, love those 'cut glass' windows on either side.

I prefer the first, but wouldn't have the mirrors covering the entire length on the sides. Maybe have them from the mantle up with nice built-ins below.

I'd take the before if you removed that ornate trim around the fireplace surround.

If I had to choose the after is the winner. It's very sleek and modern.

Neither of them I am in love with, but I would definitely with some tweaking chosse the 1st one. The 2nd one seems almost non existent to me, do not care for it at all....The 1st one is too ornate for my tastes, but could be tweak'd...I guess for Florida the 1st one is too much, I mean how often would it really even get used?

The first one has all the character so I'd go with that one. The mirrors would have to go for sure. You'd most likely use it a couple times during the winter months. Floridians get cold at 60 degrees, while we in New England have our windows wide open! LOL

I don't care for either of them. Not my taste. I guess I hang out in the wrong places but probably 99% of the pics posted here are not like anything I've seen anywhere and no one I know lives like this. I call my taste early depression.

the first one is horrible but I really like the 2nd one --generally I HATE fireplaces especially the wood burning type---had one in the house I sold and we used it maybe 10 times in the 35 years we lived there--took up too much room and was just ugly, the ex hubs--didn't finish it--had no mantle and had a disgusting tile surround ----got rid of the house, the fireplace and him too---but I do like the slick modern gas ones alot------

The first one is tacky.

The second one I'd take down the grade-school art projects and put up two long beautiful Chinese scrolls with foggy landscapes. Maybe with big birds on them, or just calligraphy. Very cool and elegant.

I would like it a lot then.

Love the clean lines of the second fireplace and the room. Would probably change the pictures beside it to some original oriental or asian pieces, which is an easy fix.

I'd choose, the after design (2nd design) It's modern but gives a more comfortable feeling to me.
