But for the shiplap, I'd be almost certain this is an apartment living room though I suppose one could install shiplap in a condo. Regardless, I like the shutters and the oval mirror, but otherwise, not much else. This looks like somebody picked up a few things at a yard sale or cleaned out their parent's attic, added a few seating pieces of 'box store' style furniture and did the best they could to create a cozy cottage vibe. For me, it falls way flat. Sort of shabby but not so chic. I don't care for this room.

I don't mind it at all. It would be a great coastal living room, adding some ocean vibe to it and perhaps removing those ridiculous baskets and ugly fan. Not that I have anything against baskets but sometimes they just don't fit the room, IMO. I could happily work with this.

This is my new room! It's going to look really nice when I get around to painting the rest of the furniture. But it's a mess now.

First there's WAY to many items in this space. The wall grouping is totally off.

Too much on the dresser or whatever that piece is? The colors dont

flow well. And that round table is just a no. Sorry please this whole room is OFF.

@Sooner Lucky you! I have always loved this style. DH and I have very different taste or I may have done it at one time. Good luck with your room. I find this style pretty, cheerful, and very cozy and warm at the same time.

I'm not a fan of "Matchy Matchy" but this is the complete opposite and just looks like hand me down pieces from various relatives or as another poster said, flea market finds. This is not my style but I've seen other "cottage" living rooms that were more warm and inviting than this one.

This kinda looks mish mash to me. The only thing I like are the shutters, but even they don't look functional. Looks like they are just hanging there doing nothing.

It is a pretty room but there are changes I would make. I would have landscape artwork on the walls rather than what is shown. The room needs to be perked up a bit and feel warmer and cozier.

I like this with a few changes. I don't like the distressed cabinet, or anything on that wall. I would put a darker cabinet, shelf, or table there. Above it I would hang artwork that depicts something from nature. I would also remove the old metal fan on the white table and the wire basket below that table.

This is a rather calm shabby chic.

Some can be too heavily designed.
