DECORATING WITH PATCHWORK

The first thing that comes to mind is Grandma's patchwork quilt, but the photos here focus on a modern twist, a popular style in Great Britain.

They are from Lisa Farmer, a retired interior designer, posted on her blog...Eye For Design.

She collected photos to show how to use patchwork as an accent in our homes. She is not the designer of the rooms.

She says, mixing different textures and fabrics, cut up and sewn back together in a modern twist, is called Patchwork Chic.

You might want to make the patchwork sofa the center of attention of the space or you might want it to just simply complement the rest of the room's furnishings. Keeping walls white will make your patchwork really stand out.

You can create a variety of interior styles from soft, gentle, and warm, to conversely bright and crazy. In fact, the patchwork style can be applied to almost all interior elements such as pillows, wall art, wallpaper and upholstery.

As an accent piece in the right place, I like this chair.

Combine bright, eclectic patchwork furniture with neutral walls and pick out various patterns and colors throughout the room using picture frames, lamps,vases and other home accessories to set off the furniture artistically.

Patchwork sofas are crafted by working with a variety of pieces of material to cover the sofa. These cuts of fabric are assorted sizes and materials. Some of the most popular fabrics used are velvet and leather. Investing in a patchwork sofa or chair is a great way to make a statement in the room.

Patchwork doesn't have to be bright and colorful.

I like this chair, too.

Bedding is probably the perfect place to start if you want to add a touch of patchwork.

A madras-style patchwork rug could be a focal point in any room from rustic to contemporary.

With a little bit of know-how and some material, you could even re-upholster a chair in your favorite patchwork style as a do-it-yourself project.

Interesting chair. Conversation piece.

Comfy, peaceful bedroom.

You just can't get any cozier than curling up in patchwork!

Regarding the different patterns and textures used throughout, all I could think of was the great amount of work needed to to create them.

@Foxxee It was nice of you to post all of these but I can't believe a PROFESSIONAL interior designer came up with these looks. At least they're not neutrals but that's the nicest thing I can say.

Lisa Farmer didn't design these rooms. She said she found the photos here and there, a few from Pinterest.

I have a patchwork quilt on my bed that my mother-in-law made for us. But I don’t care for patchwork elsewhere.

Pic #2 is the room I could tolerate the most. At least it has a lighter, airy flow to it. All the other spaces, pics, ... um, not so much. Some of these patterns can make a person "dizzy."

Felt like I was walking in GrandMa's house. Thanks some of the upholstered pieces might be okay in some areas , but the curtains in most of the pic's were a bit much.

The only patchwork pieces I like are the quilts on the beds. I do not care for the couches and chairs covered in patchwork, not my taste for those pieces at all.

i love patchwork. i have a vintage patchwork quilt on my oak four poster bed and i just love it. it's been with me forever. if i had a big house again, i would buy that sofa in picture #2 and put it in my cozy little library.

I like patchwork bedding but otherwise, going to pass on 99% of this look...
