I am thinking about replacing my livingroom furniture.

Notice there isn't much fabric furniture out there mostly leather. Has anyone switched from fabric to leather? How do you like leather?

Also wanting blue is that out of date tired of browns and beige.

I have 6 cats so I only have leather. Never had a problem. I really don't like fabric. Leather is easier to clean and it is not hot in the summer. It was 118 yesterday and I sat in it and did not stick to it.

If you have good quality furniture with good frames , have you looked into having custom upholstery ? There are so many fabrics . In the past I had custom fitted slip covers made so that I could use velveteens during the winter and lighter fabrics and hues during the summer months .

@crazered I think there is fabric furniture out there....I ordered a sofa and two chairs from Lazy Boy back in March. Since it's a custom selection and not something they had in stock I had to wait several months to get it. I'm supposed to get delivery next month. The sofa is a velveteen type of fabric and the chairs are a smooth fabric in a subtle print.

As for leather, I have a Natuzzi leather sectional in the family room in a neutral color for many years and it's held up very well. It's still going strong!

We got our fabric furniture--sofa and love seat--from Macy's. "Radley" is the style. Happy with it. Do not like leather except for our Eames style chair.

We have leather couches in the basement that recline and we have reclining leather chairs in our theaer room. They're all nice and comfortable. I prefer fabric. Bought new family room and living room furniture with the last year or so. At stores many of the sofas you'll see come in different colors and fabrics.

@crazered If you pets like we do, we find leather is the only way to go for us. It's easy to take care of and we can clean it ourselves. Takes no time either.

Leathers come in so many lovely colors now, if you want navy leather, you can find it. These days you can also find great faux leathers that look and wear like leather. You can now also find furniture made with leather on the front surfaces and faux in the back.

I want new living room furniture too but seem to really be struggling with what I want. A simple love seat for me, a matching (if I can find one to match) oversized recliner for him and a side chair or easy chair to go with. Just cannot seem to find the right combo. I'm still searching.

I love the soft feel of fabric. My favorite fabrics are from Waverly.

If you work with private owned furniture stores, you can find a style and fabric you like.

When you go to a store like "Rooms To Go" or Ashely Home Furnishings, they manufacture their own brands and they don't have the life of, a brand like Broyhill.

The only group I know of that has a high quality and manufactures their own is Ethan Allen. Their items last forever and a day.

I think I have decide to keep my coach and just replace the chair. The coach is fabric should I replace with another fbic chair or go with leather?

@ECBG So true! The LazyBoy sofa and chairs that I just purchased are replacing my Ethan Allen sofa & chairs that still look like new and are 26 years old. However I am sick of them not to mention they are very dated looking.

I toyed with the ideo of going back to Ethan Allen but just didn't want to pay double the price for the living room furniture which we really don't sit in too often.

If you barely use them, I would just recover. Their items last and last.
