What color is your sofa?

I’m in the process of furnishing my living room. I enjoy seeing the different living rooms posted here. I was wondering if people lean more toward neutral colors or a colored sofa/chairs? Thanks

Sorry, but I have a patterned sofa. I am well aware that this is out of style, but so be it. It was pricey, is comfortable, and I happen to like it. You need to buy what you like since it will be in your house and you will see it everyday.

I have a deep blue based red sofa. Red and all of the tints and shades are my key color.

Right now my living room is neutral. My sofa and loveseat are a tufted style with fabric buttons in an oatmeal shade. I also have dark chocolate brown leather accent furniture around the room. It's a very big room.

Prior to this furniture, the room was a much bolder look with a red sofa and upholstered chairs.

I like a patterned sofa. My last one was patterned and it was so pretty. I was just ready for a change. I agree with you. I don't go for "in style". I just pick what I like.

@RetRN I will join you in being out of style because I have 2 patterned sofas that match (OMG) in Living Room with solid chairs. I've had them forever since LR is rarely used. Burgundy sofa and love seat in Family Room and I am still happy with both rooms. . @cotton4me Buy what pleases you as you are the one living with it.

Does your home have seperate living room and den, or do you have a "greatroom" concept?

The brand of my couch is Cosy Craft. Everyone says it's the most comfortable couch they have sat on.

Thank you. I love him. A lady's bf made him for me. He enjoyed ceramics as a hobby. Our son 40 years old, was 2 at the time.

These are my lamps now, the large beige one and shade. I changed them right after Christmas.

It takes me a long time to find just the right touch after having taught design.

It's a small apartment - living room/dining room combo. I've already picked out some colors that I like. When looking online so many things are light colors (cream, white, etc.). It’s pretty but doesn’t seem practical. It made me wonder what colors people were using in their homes.

By the way, your sofa and your room are beautiful. Love your new lamps too. I've been eyeing the same lamps!

We don't have a couch. It's only the two of us and we use chairs with ottomans. We don't have a formal living room either because the pool table is in there.

We got a large new sectional last March, it's taupe with white in it. Like a "twead" maybe? Don't know if that's the right word. Also got a new living room set before Christmas last year that's also taupe or greige. So yes, I have definitely been leaning more toward neutral tones. I really like it.

@ECBG I have an old jug similar to the one in the front that is made into a lamp.

@ECBG After taking a closer look at your snowman, my figurine isn't exactly the same, I ordered mine from The Christmas Shop in Frankenmuth (sp?) Michigan several years ago. He is holding a bubble light.

And I really like your new lamps. I am looking for a new lamp for my living room, but I can't find anything that goes with my furniture. And if your color scheme doesn't include grey or blue (which mine doesn't), you are really out of luck.

Time for some new designers to get into the design industry and create some fresh new designs for retail.

My couch and loveseat are by This End Up and are thirty years old. I love this set ( has been through three homes and about 15 years ago we changed the covers from a multi stripe to a solid navy background with a small repeating paisley. These covers go with any accent I'm likely to use and they are very kid and pet resistant.

You might take a look at Pottery Barn.

If I am going to look at a main item for years, I am darn well going to get something that looks good in general, looks good with my decor, and I also like. It was a "done deal". With antiques, a hand thrown lamp goes!

It will never be "out of style".

My sofa is Hickory Hill a solid dark taupe with a drop of green. The accent chair is burgandy background with the same color of the sofa in vines. I love it and with the cost of new furniture I'll enjoy it for a long time to come!

I got this dark chocolate brown sofa from Pier 1 amazingly several years ago. It was on sale and so comfortable. It is a suede like material. I have an orange pillow and a dark sea green pillow on it.

I also put a patterned chocolate throw on the cushions because I had my cat for a long time and now grandkids and we eat on the couch😋
