Need color suggestions for front door

We are selling a home that we own and I'd like to "freshen" the front door and trim. I am color challenged and not sure what would look good. The house has a stained wood siding that is a warmer dark brown. What do you think would be a good contrasting color for the door? The current color is an olive green. Thanks!

Beige, tan. Something light colored.

We have a cedar sided house and we have a forest green door. If you want to, Google on trend accent colors for houses to get more ideas.

Can you post a picture of the front of your house - or a closeup showing a bit of it with the siding and current front door? Or would that be weird? It would make it easier to pick for you, imo. What style house do you have? Color of roof? walkways? front stairs? trim? Maybe even coordinate it, meaning make sure it goes with other houses near you, if you can see them easily.

If it was me, my house, in addition to asking here, I would sit in my front yard and browse colors while looking at my house and see if something looks good to me.

Also, I'm not sure if you want to consider it or if you'd care, but according to the principles of feng shui, there are certain colors for your front door that are considered most beneficial based on which way the door faces (i.e. north, northeast, south, etc.). Easily googled, if you are interested in that.

I would show you, but I'm nowhere near the house right now and don't have a photo. It's in another state, so I won't be there for another week. It isn't quite as fancy as you are thinking. Four steps up to a landing which is surrounded by a few feet of the house on one side and the garage wall on the other. It does face south, but I just need to make it look fresh. Thanks for your suggestions!

@moonandthestars I may in the minority but I can't stand red doors. I'd stick with something neutral since you are selling. A buyer can always, with little trouble, change the color.

I painted my door two years ago. The house is tan and white and I had a dark brown door. Boring! It also has a lot of carving on it and it's solid wood. I painted it Delft Blue from Sherwin Williams and I love it. It brightens up the house and you can now see the carving from a distance. It's not a blue blue, nor an aqua. It's in between. The gray blues seem to be popular around here. Oyster Bay is a real nice blue gray and would be good. Red doors seem to be going out of style. You can get some good ideas on Pinterest.

I'd choose a neutral color, as some others have suggested: light tan or light caramel color. While some of the brighter colors are popular, they don't appeal to everyone. A light tan would work with the darker siding and would be easy to repaint for the home buyers if they want something brighter.

So nobody seems overly interested in the feng shui of it all, but I decided to do a quick look online anyway and see what I could find. So, for a south facing door:

"To sum it up for you, best feng shui colors for a South facing front door are (in order of their auspiciousness): red, purple, strong yellow, deep orange, deep pink, green and brown colors. "

@just bee Nice door! right in line with what I posted above too. I do think the white trim around it is helpful tho.

if you have a RE agent ask them, there must be the best colors to sell a house

I do and I will! I'm leaning toward a neutral right now. I don't have a lot of time to plan, so a beige, tan, or caramel will have to do!

FWIW since you asked those are the most unappealing to me. interested to hear what your RE agent says on this topic

my friend sold her house her agent told her to change her door from pale green to black and it looked great, her house was grey.
