Love beams and brick in a kitchen! Warm and inviting. Were I the owners, I would not have chosen that floor-- seems a bit out of line with other elements. In addition, (unless my monitor is giving me 'non-true' colors, which is very possible), the undertones in the floor seem to be fighting a bit with other colors.

@Oznell I agree. I would have either done a nice wood floor that coordinated with the wood beams...or something that gave off a warm vibe.

I'm not feeling those floors either, nor am I a big fan of the countertops. I do love that range though!!!

I am usually not a big brick person, but it goes really well in here! I don't mind the floors- not my favorite, but they are nice. A very, very nice kitchen!

I love the brick and almost everything else is fine with me. The floors are clean and bright. I think a wood floor would be too much wood in this bright kitchen.

The beams are a bit overdone for me in this kitchen. The lower beams block the brick. Take away 1/4 of the beams and it's a gorgeous kitchen to me.

@Oznell Agree with you completely. I actually would have loved a wood with a black stain or something with contrast. I think you nailed it.

I like the look but would not want an island to walk around all the time. You already have table and chairs to walk around.

If you put in a maple floor and dark wood cabinets that would be my kitchen in a former house.

I now hate brick in a kitchen. I had that alcove and a fireplace next to it. I hated it. It was pretty but difficult to deal with if there was a problem with lighting, venting, etc. It was dusty and dark.

The fireplace was a beautiful total waste of space. If you get tired of it or need to change up something you are looking at a BIG demo.

I think it is too much of a mish mash of stuff--all i can see is how the heck to you dust those beams and cob webs--and same with the brick around the stove---will prob be a greasy film on it all eventually--hate the floors too. looks like more lights are needed--nope--not for me

Overall, a nice looking kitchen. A little too much going on at the ceiling level with both beams and trusses and I'm not loving the floor, but it's not bad. Very much like the wood counters and am considering them for my own home. As like others, I'd prefer the sink not be in the island. As for the dining section, I like the sort of Parson's look table with the wooden top appearing to match the counters. It looks nice with the ladderback chairs, which, however, I'm betting are not comfortable.

Agree, @Oznell . I'd have done a warm, stone-looking, vinyl or ceramic tile floor, to add richness and texture.

I do not care for brick anywhere near a stove, oven or cooktop. It attracts too much dust, dirt and grease from cooking and is very difficult to clean. The same with any tumbles stone used as a backsplash.

I wonder if that is an AGA cooker range? Looks like one. My fantasy is to have one in a big, homey style kitchen. But it would never work in my climate.

I agree, I would do a different floor, but I like everything else in this kitchen.

Someday when this mess is over I going to do all my flooring.

What struck me was how bad the grey cabinets look with balance of the tan/brown room. Need to remember this.

@Somertime I lived with the brick area for the cooktop for 23 years, and dust was something to contend with but not so much grease if you don't fry things.

And if you have a good downdraft exhaust it can go right in eithout ever getting on the brick. But if you fry a lot, or cook things that generate grease a lot, yes it could be an issue.

I like the beams and how much light the kitchen gets.

I really am not a fan of the stove, nor the brick surrounding the stove. I also don't like the placement of the cabinet next to the stove with absolutely no counter space in front of it.

I would love to see different flooring and a different counter and a stainless sink. The more I look at it, the more I find wrong with it. LOL

I like the wall with the stove. But, I'm not fond of the floor nor the wood countertops. I wonder how long the countertops would remain intact and free of bacteria.
