Basketweave Fireplace Surround

I have not seen this before. What do you think? If you like the design, do you like the two-tone color scheme?

I like the weave it's different...And I think using two-tones in the surround makes the weave more promienent ...... one thing I also like is since there's a pattern in the fireplace tile they chose solid color furniture so the fireplace is also the main focus of the room....if they had chosen a couch and chairs with different pattern fabrics then it would have been too much pattern for the room....

I have mixed feelings. I don't know that I would choose something like this for my home and if I did, I know I wouldn't make it a two-toned color scheme. It just looks too busy. I also think it takes away from the beauty of the fireplace.

Other than that it's a really comfortable looking room. I particularly like the corner windows with the window seat.

I like the fireplace design, it is different and appealing. I however, do not care for the furniture or wall color.

I like the whole fireplace area with the TV and mantel. Also like the Roman shades and coffee table. Would replace the seats.

I have seen this done a few times on HGTV.

I would admire it in someone elses house for sure. It could be done in any area of the country and look nice.

I prefer stone or brick for my own home on the East Coast but it's just preference.

I like the fire place surround and the rest of the room as well. It has a sedate, settled, serious look to me.

Yes, I like the two toned basketweave design. I'd probably choose different colors but not sure exactly what though.

I like it. I like the whole room with the exception of the sofa. I don't like that style nor the pattern or colors in the pattern. The sofa is a big no, for me, but the fireplace is a yes.

I like the bones of this room, I think it's the window placement that makes me take notice. I don't care much for the surround or the overall decor. But alas, here you go again @lolakimono with another of these posts when really, we need so much more...

I don't like it all, although maybe it's the different color tones. I prefer a more tradiional brick design in a small area like a fireplace. If that design and colors were used on a patio, I'd be all for it

@lolakimono - To me, the two basket weave areas are fighting each other. Both are nice in their own right.

I like the basketweave, it's quite different, that's for sure. I'm assuming that's a TV on the wall above? Or it could be an odd picture......anyway that seems to take away from the whole look. I would remove it and replace it with a scenic picture with a frame that has contrast with the colors in the room.

The surround is quite handsome. I'm not sure if the opposite wall was intended to enhance but to me it seems to compete. Maybe it would look less interesting if it didn't mimic the fireplace surround, but it makes me sorry that the fireplace can't stand in it's own glory.

It's rare that I like everything about a room and I almost do in this case, but the sofa is so jarring, it almost knocked my hands off the keyboard. Otherwise, very well done space. It is not for me but it is very well done except that wild sofa.
