Silas Robbins House In Wethersfield CT

Just saw this photo on Instagram and thought it was the prettiest house. It is still listed online as a bed and breakfast, but an article I found said it was on the market in 2018. If you Google the bed and breakfast you can see photos of the interior.

And no surprise, it was featured in a Hallmark Christmas movie-Christmas On Honeysuckle Lane (2018.)

The 2018 listing said:

@Greeneyedlady21, Thank you for posting this! Wethersfield is not too far away from where I live. This house, of course, is a beauty. It was restored and beautifully furnished. Quite a lovely B&B that people can explore online. There is a scene in the movie where DH and I have gone for coffee, as our GD took dancing lessons there down the street. I guess all the faux snow was amazing to everybody. There are other sites in CT that have been used in HM movies, but not our town.

It’s always interesting to see how HM portrays towns. I am sure people realize there are grocery stores, gas stations, pizza shops, etc., that you find everywhere you go.

@PamfromCT hi pam. since you live in CT, you perhaps know there are some homes on the main street in Suffield CT, althugh smaller in sq feet and height are just beautiful as well. Many are or were listed for sale https://thelilyhouse.com/

Hi @tobes, Even though I don’t live there, I am very familiar with the town. Through the span of time, I took painting lessons (Early American type) with three successive teachers in Suffield. I went on a house tour there many years ago. Suffield has such a classic, lovely Main Street. Suffield Academy is there, as well, a prep school. CT has lots of prep schools, including one I worked at.

I am familiar with the gorgeous place pictured. It has one major flaw. It is beneath a flight path of Bradley International Airport. Really, as you are driving by, those planes are flying low, getting ready to land at the airport a bit of a distance away. yikes. What a shame.

At our ages, our next move will be to assisted living. But until then, we are planted where we are. Hey, we have places to go and people to see. And two young grandchildren.

CT is full of beautiful, historic places. You might want to look up Farmington, CT. Another old town, with Miss Porter’s School (Jackie O went there). Home to the Hill-Stead Museum, full of original art collected in Europe in times gone by. The grounds are large and stunning.

@PamfromCT pam I live near suffield and often shop at Highland Park Market there. It is a beautiful main street in all seasons. I have to say though I ws not bothered by airplanes flying low...but maybe I am used to airplanes being near Bradley Airport. Many of these houses have gone on sale...too big and too costly for the American family. Sad, though the main street still maintains its charm with the prep school, churches, town green (with the spring and summer vegetable sales). If you live in the area, you know that in Connectcut you are never more than 10 minutes from a farm, particularly in Suffield where there is a great amount of land left untouched in the outskirts of Main Street. Good to hear from you again.

This is a home I dreamed about living in when I was a teen! I love Victorian houses , furnishings, decor, all of it. I am older now and never lost my appeal for this type home. It is stunning.

Me again! Just wanted to say that the only time I have noticed the planes was when I was around that gorgeous house, heading toward the airport. It is quite a curve in the road, and that spot seems to be directly in line with a flight path. I have never noticed planes or heard them anywhere on Suffield’s Main Street other than there.

I have written elsewhere my DB bought a restored very old house many years ago. Much upkeep, and it cost a fortune to heat. Several years later he sold it. It had been once his heart’s desire. And yes, the cost of homes in our area is high, as well as taxes.

jusr stumbled on this. I also live in CT. Someone mentioned prep schools and my son goes to Choate Rosemary Hall. Beautiful buildings. We also pass Miss Porters on our way to church! CT does have a lot of nice New England homes but unfortunately with the very high taxes/ democratic state and snow( which I love) a lot of people are leaving.

Pam and Tobes, I am in Granby. Have you been to the Rockville section of Vernon? There are many Victorian homes and Federal style, all gorgeous!
