L & R Window Treatments

What do you think of the way the window treatments have been hung, to create a "left" and "right" design next to the cabinet?

No.not a fan of drapes, curtains or whatever they are called. Give me blinds, shutters any day.

Yes, me, too. But blinds or shutters do not fit with Early American.

@lolakimonoI think the window, which would be to the far R (not pictured) is the complement to the window to the R of the hutch. The window to the left may (or may not) have both R & L panels.

In any event, I like the 1 panel treatment, but it has to be in the appropriate setting. If I re-did the window treatments in our present LR...or even in the master bedroom. (I'll think about that tomorrow.)

Don't care about the curtains but I love that room. Love homes that are hundreds of years old. Don't know if that's real or a reproduction but I like it.

I like the fireplace and wood beam ceiling. Hate any sort of curtains. Much prefer some type of shades, not blinds or shutters, and IMO they would work in this room.

For this room, those curtains are perfect.

With a real wood fireplace, I'd rather have something that could be washed easily (and curtains/drapes can be machine washed).

Blinds, shades, would ruin the ambiance of the room.

Perhaps shutters would work.

But it's a dining area, so privacy isn't as necessary as other rooms.

First of all that fireplace and corner cupboard are gorgeous. Love that rug. I think they were going for the style of the day the way they hung the curtains. They don't bother me none. I had windows by my fireplace at my old house and I pushed them open toward the fireplace.

Beautiful room and I like simple window treatments. To my untrained eye I would have tied the panel back the opposite way, or at least tried to see how it looked. Like the fabric used and everything about the room. Thanks for sharing

Curtains like this were often used in a primitive setting.

I think pulling them towards the beautiful cabinet frames and draws attention to it.

In this case, my 'eye' tells me it was the right thing to do.

I like it. I like any treatment that welcomes the outdoors, indoors. In my previous home, all second floor window treatments hung from midpoint of window allowing privacy AND sunshine through the top part of window. No valances.

My newer, patio home has zero window treatments. modern blinds

I like this room, in spite of it being moody and dark. I think the curtains compliment this particular setting.

I like it. The curtains are a very popular with that particular style of home. The plaid, the early Americana look. I've seen them in magazines featuring early Americana. So, I can see using them. I wonder if it's an 1800's home or a newer build meant to look that way? Anyway, it's all nice.

I like the room and love the cabinet but would have pulled the drapes the opposite way to give it a more open look...away from the cabinet.

If it were my home I would not have those heavy print drapes at all.

The curtains work in this room.

I love this dining room and wouldn't change a thing. The owner's furniture and assessories are perfect for this house.

I never had thought about it until now, but I have my panels in my dining room pulled in that same direction on each side of the China cabinet ; I do this because I have a better view this way.

I think this room looks very cozy and I like the beams and fireplace rock. But not sure about the gold on the fireplace and the gold picture. It does flow with all the other trim work on the baseboards etc. I guess it works here .
