Is that a box the tree is standing in? Don't care for that, or the strips of wood paneling by the fireplace. Everything else is beatiful, and I love it!!

Aaahhhh, something that appeals to me. A hint of holiday added to a home, instead of trying to find the home in a holiday space.

This is so cozy and pleasant...a room I want to sit in, drink something warm, and snuggle under that throw on the end of the sofa.

@RedTop I've come, too, to see the wisdom in that, as have a number of decorator types... Increasingly, I'm preferring (and reading articles suggesting) that holiday decorations should enhance one's day to day decor and not upend it... With no offense intended to anyone, I now look at some of the homes featuring every conceivable surface infused with Christmas and with Christmas kitsch and just cannot see the appeal... Now, that said, I don't think all decor need be as minimal nor as rustic as is this in order to be appealing. I think some rather extensive holiday decorating can be pretty, but please, just don't overwhelm me and expect me to ooh and ahh over it anymore... As always, though, each to their own...

@alicedee Yep, the tree is sitting on a wooden crate...

I have to say, given the overall vibe of the room, I sort of like it, though I understand it's not a look everyone will embrace... Along with the river rock fireplace, the beams and the paneling and the unfinished, rough-hewn wooden armoire, I think it's part of what makes this whole room have a vibe that's sort of a slightly more refined version of 'rustic'...

I think this area is very appealing and lovely!!!! I am reminded of my home in the country not far from the lake. It has a similar fireplace and knotty pine wood. I would make some changes, a different couch and table and rug but the bones of the room are very nice!

I think it's lovely. A real tree and garland, popcorn to string (done that!). Uncluttered and a room you could really relax in. I love the painting (photo?) over the fireplace, too.

A good book, a cup of tea and that tartan throw over my lap...I'm in! (And don't forget the smell of a real tree.) Oh, almost forgot: one or all three of my cats curled up with me on the couch.

@RedTop, You have the perfect words to describe my feelings. I am likely different from many people, but I get nothing from looking at pictures of rooms that look like a team of decorators took over. I enjoy seeing spaces that real people live in, something I can relate to and get ideas from.

Touring an historic mansion, decked in its glory, is yet another thing.

Very cozy and charming! I would have preferred a full sized tree.

All that's missing is a nice view of the snowy countryside and a mug of hot cocoa!

Yes, it seems to be. Sometimes it's hard to find a small table for a table-top tree. I've used a wooden crate that I bought from a local apple farm. It's actually been used at the farm and has the farm's name stencilled on the side.

I’m not a cabin girl, but I like it. I don’t like the box the tree is on. I’d prefer a full size tree anyway.
