I think I'd go with a solid either on the sofa or the curtains (or maybe just a smaller print on one of them), and a more comfortable chair...but I do love the cozy feel of this room and the colors.

I usually like English country in spite of the fact I don't love flowered fabrics which can be common in that style. I'm not feeling this one.

It's the curtains/drapes that are putting me off on this one. The little wooden chair with the tie on cushions is also a big no.

Switch out the end table and chair for less spindly legs in the room, and I would feel good visiting here.

The colors are pretty and beams are beautiful. For me it would need a solid colored thick plush rug and a comfortable chair.

I like the idea of the room....love the ceiling. However, there are too many prints going on with the sofa, curtains, rug and pillows. Something would need to go including the chair. Does not look comfortable.

I love this area! I would put the chair elsewhere because I like it and replace it with a more comfortable one. It is a yes for me, cozy and warm!!!!!

I don't care for the ceiling & heavy drapes & color of walls. The seating area in that small space is a tad too crowded. I do like the rug though.

While this might not be among the finest example of an English cottage or country style room, I like it anyway. In fact, I like all the elements, though I might not have opted to use them together. I'd probably have opted for different sofa pillows and for either a different fabric on the windows or the sofa, (though I like both the existing fabrics) and for a different rug. I like the wall color and while I'd hope the room also offers a nice comfortable easy chair or two, I like the small occasional chair. I also very much like both the pretty white end table with shelves and the tole tray coffee table. Add in the ceiling beams and, to me, this is a comforting and comfortable looking room.

@LindaSal Just an FYI, that's not a TV tray, though I understand your point of view. It's a tole tray, first made popular in Regency era English design. Though I'd bet the ranch this is not of the Regency era, tole trays and tole tray tables like the one in the original picture and the one below are pretty popular among those who like an English cottage aesthetic...

I like everything about this room but the spindly chair. A cushioned, round chair would be much better. It's a room to have tea with Laura Ashley!
