And with both a table and chairs and a (for me) too big island... I also don't like a sink in the island... At least the stools have backs...

I love that island, minus the sink. Great size when you're baking. Lots of work space for that and I do a lot of baking in my galley kitchen. Former home had an island close to that size.

@JYWilliams I like it too. Clearly, there are things I'd change were I going from scratch, but it's a very nice, roomy and well conceived space with a lot of natural light.

It has a very comfortable feel to it! The island would be incredible for cooking/baking. I certainly wouldn't want my main sink to be in the island. I've contemplated if I'd use a small bar sink in an island (for food prep and what not). But that's in my fantasy dream kitchen where I have a sub zero fridge, Viking range and a butler pantry. A girl can dream, lol!

I like the island, but there’s too much white for me in the room. A darker backsplash & a creamier wall color would suit me better. I’m not loving the chairs at the island or the patterned ones at the table. Lovely views.

DH and I just got back from a week long motor home trip

to an area that has always appealed to us. We wanted to look at the model homes and the gated golf community. There were two models that this picture reminded me of, that we liked. Very bright with lots of natural light, and white kitchens.
We may have seriously considered having one built, until we looked at building sites. There were none left that appealed to us. So, the search continues, but we are having fun and taking our time.
I feel like Dorothy when I get home from a trip sometimes, and I find myself saying there no place like home. I really do like my home and maybe we will just stay right here.🥰

Love this. Also looks like it may be a lake property! I would probably go for a crazier color on the chairs around the table but this whole scenario is not a deal breaker for me. ETA: I think the lights are a little oversized.

I never understood the attraction of a large (spacious) kitchen!

Just too much space to have to keep clean.

I have a tiny galley kitchen ... perfect size.

It may look spacious at first glance but not to me. There are not enough cupboards. I need cabinet space for several sets of dishes, glassware, bakeware and pots and pans. Plus I need a pantry. Hate a sink in the island. Make the island oblong and clear of sink and stovetop and it's good. Do not like seating at my island.

For a low room, the proportions seem to be off for me. Normally I like big pendant lights, but they need space, with higher ceilings to work, I think. Not crazy about the design of the pendants themselves, but it's mainly the lack of space for them to breathe. The dark wood of the island with the bright white also not my favorite look.

The heavily padded, cream colored stools around the very white marble of the island also seem a bit incongruous to me. I can see that they were going for "airy" in the room, and that's a good goal, but this seems not too cohesive to me...

I like it. I never thought I liked a sink in an island but our family stayed in a vacation home this summer that had 2 sinks in a very large island (one at each end)...everybody loved it.

I like some features & some not.

Normally, I'm not a fan of ceiling beams, but these I like. The spaciousness is nice & also the large windows. Like you, I don't care for a sink in an island unless it's a secondary one (for peeling vegs., etc.) .. it's always nicer to have a window over the sink to see outside. We love watching the weather & critters feeding. The stools are ugly, but comfy looking. Looks like there's a nice seating area by the windows and floor are maybe a wood look tile?

I like the space as well, but would not want a sink in my island either. Not crazy about the light fixtures, but everything else is very nice!

At first glance, I thought it was just "OK" but the more I look at it the less I like it. For starters.....not enough cabinetry for me, the island chairs are ugly and the hanging lights are too big and off-balance with the space.

I like the kitchen, but would never have a sink in an island.

I don't know the appeal of that, but I wouldn't want to be the one sitting there while someone was using the sink and splashing water all over.

I think of a sink as a work space, not to be where people are relaxing.
