Don't like the light but otherwise sort of appealing and a good use of space, but the window seat isn't for perching on for very long...

I never know what to make of books being used as decorative item. Somehow they seem discounted by doing that.

Like the area very much. The small lights on the inside of the book shelves is an odd placement.

What a great way to utilize/decorate that area; it adds a lot of charm and character. I'm not a fan of the overhead light, either. The side lights on the bookshelves were a smart addition, that's a nice way to incorporate some ambient lighting.

I like the space and idea, but I agree that the hanging light needs to be changed. I’m not sure how comfortable that window seat really is though.

The two lights in the alcove bother me more than the chandelier.

I thought this was a like reading nook, with all the wonderful natural light. So not fake books. I agree with you about not liking fake books. Weird. I have a small space, so I am actually getting rid of hard books (except art and illustrated, history books), because I seldom read twice. I buy electronic books now. Would love to have a big window surrounded by a book case like this one!

I could see filling those shelves with special books and framed photos that are meaningful to the family. It gives an otherwise quick pass on the stairway interest and reason. Better than storing it all in boxes in the garage.

I like the cozy look with the window seat & large window. Instead of open shelving (which I'm not a fan of) I would've expanded the seating area & made it more comfy for reading.

@stevieb I really like everything about this EXCEPT the hanging light. If there are young early--say 2nd & 3rd grade--school children I could see one of them calling "dibs" on this space to read her or his latest favorite book. That little cubby door on the lower right would be an excellent hiding place for a child to stash "treasure."

If there was a cat or miniature terrior as the family pet I could see that spot being claimed by said furry family member.

To me, it just seems like A LOT is stuffed into this small space. I would rather have the window seat the full length and remove the shelving on both sides but keep the shelving running across the top. All the lighting fixtures would have to be replaced.

I would remove the bookcase and have a comfy window seat with a larger window ..the chandelier is OK but the 2 side lamps look out of place.
