STUDIO MCGEE REMODELS A WHOLE HOUSE

"Studio McGee", the design couple, took on a whole house remodel, (they call it "the Northridge remodel"-- could that be Northridge, California?), and gave it their clean, airy stamp.

I love the door, the box paneliing, the oversize leather 'camp stool", the leaning mirror.

High-ceilinged living room. Much of the living space is painted in Benjamin Moore's "Simply White", a warm white. That 'mixed media' coffee table looks like wood and concrete.

I like the oversized pots and vessels throughout. Those large, gilt Indian bells on coffee table-- I had some, but donated them about 10 years ago-- and have regretted doing so!

Family room, which is just off the living room, so is decorated to coordinate with it...

I couldn't find what paint color they used on the painted paneling in dining room, but I like it. They combined that with grasscloth in the center of the paneling.

Striking lamps and sideboard. I wish you could see the table wood better here, it's pretty.

Upper cabinets are painted in "Chantilly Lace" by B. Moore, and lower cabinets are in "Midnight Blue".

They didn't label this room. At first I thought it might be a laundry room-- but not with cutting boards and cake plates! So it must be a butler's pantry.

Big round table and strong, graphic chairs in breakfast area.

I like their use of painted paneling in the house.

Black, white and marble make for a classic, dreamy bathroom.

Sorry I couldn't find exterior pictures of the house. It's somewhat confusing on the McGee site-- they do have lots of exterior images, but you can't always tell which belongs to which of the many houses that they've done!

But if interested, if you go to the Studio McGee site, you might have better luck than I.

I think they do nice work!

To be honest this is not within my taste zone. However, there are appealing pieces throughout. I think the bed is very pretty, I like the head board. Some of the decor is nicely arranged and I am glad to see pictures on the wall.

Overall the design and style doesn't project warmth and seems too stark. As I said it isn't my taste but I can appreciate different ways people furnish and decorate. It boils down to what makes you comfortable and happy.

This one pleases me. One of the only whole house do overs I would move right into. It is styled, but some of that could be moved.

@Janey2, that was so sweet of you to do that detective work for me, thank you! But what they refer to as "the McGee home" though, is a different project. It's the house that the couple has been doing for themselves, I believe.

This one is called "the Northridge remodel"-- and although the site does have a lot of exterior images of the various houses they've done, I couldn't find labeled ones that said which was which, unfortunately. It may very well be there, I just couldn't find it.

I think you could step right in, @luvzchiz , ha. I could too, once I added in maybe a few antiques and vintage items for "soul"-- I love the contrast and the interplay between vintage and modern. The bones of the house are so good, there's a lot you can do with it!

I love this @Oznell . It's more modern than what I would do, but I could easily live there. I really love everything about it--their paint choices, light fixtures, lamps, furniture, everything! Thank you for posting this.

@Oznell I agree with the clean and airy. Somehow it also feels cozy and comfortable. I love the color of flooring. It adds a lot of warmth and having it throughout really anchors everything and keeps it from feeling too modern. I really like this and, like you, would just need to add a few of my favorite things.

Handsome rooms and some handsome elements but overall, nothing here for me. These spaces are all too modern in flavor, too bold with too many oversize pieces, too neutral and frankly, given the times in which we live, too predictable to really appeal. Not unattractive, just not my aesthetic. This is one of those design schemes I can appreciate without much liking.

A lovely remodel. The house has style but looks comfortable and livable. Love the midnight blue cabinets in the kitchen.

I like most everything.....not fond of the light over the couch... I don't like the idea of looking up and seeing pointy things just waiting to fall on me...lol...DW

That's a good question, @Judaline . Given that the sort of natural, "organic" vibe is pretty important in the Studio McGee lexicon, I'm going to guess those branches are real. But they make such good fakes these days, can't say for sure!

Yes, I really liked that dining room too.

I love that, for the most part, it has clean lines and is not overdone with the decor. It really is very nice just not quite my particular style.
