@Rose429

So sorry for the late reply. Well it's been about a year later and I couldn't be happier with my decision.

Yes we did install luxury vinyl plank flooring to replace all the wtw carpeting in our house, even up the stairs. It was installed by professional, reputable installers. The bathrooms and kitchen already had tile floors, which we did not replace. The literature says this type of flooring is suitable for kitchens and bathrooms, but the tile would have been expensive and incredibly dusty to remove.

It was purchased and installed by the big box store with the square orange logo.

It is easy to clean with my dyson vacuum (purchased from a QVC TSV -yay!) and occasionly dust with my Campanelli stick microfiber duster (also a QVC purchase).

As I posted earlier, I have many pets and this floor has made my life easier.

At least once a day when I walk into my bedroom I stop to admire the floor and I am happy I invested in it. My sweet DH is happy with it too, in part b/c I am so happy with it.🥰

I am redecorating our family room and need some input.

We currently have carpet on the floor and I want something different. I looked at hardwood or tile. I don't like tile for a family room or den. What about laminate flooring? Any thoughts or suggestions concerning this type of flooring? We have small grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cats, and a dog so I am reluctant to get carpet again or hardwood. TIA.

Just last week DH and I had all our carpets removed and had LVP installed. Beautiful, looks like real wood, but much more durable. It comes in a variety of wood looks and colors and is good for all levels. So now I have tile downstairs and LVP upstairs and look forward to the easier upkeep. We have dogs and cats.

I have two friends who have recently built new homes. The most recent one has laminate which has come a long way since it first became available. She could afford anything but got the laminate due to having two bigger dogs. It's beautiful and looks pretty real. No clicking sound like the old days.

Other friend did the lino that looks like wood. Also looks really good and very dog friendly. I liked it so much she gave me the info but was out of my price range because I would do the whole house.

You can't go wrong with either one. Not sure how much the really good laminate costs, but I think I would go with that one after seeing both.

I will never put in another flooring product that snaps together. Had one put in and in 2 months it started to come apart. The company finally agreed to replace it and in January installed another one. Different name brand very expensive and it is seperating in fact I can now pick up the pieces it is a total mess. They are going to replace it again. BUT this time there will not be a floating floor it will either be glued down or nailed down. When I saw how this floor was installed the first time I said to the guys '' this floor will never hold up '' they said we put this flooring in commerical buildings it is great" Well I was correct. I have had one piece flooring put in 3 different times never had any issues but this plank flooring will never be put in this home again. No we are not hard on our flooring. No one abuses it, I take good care of it but never again it is coming apart in places we don't even walk on. We were told this was top of the line products.

Yes. LVP is luxury vinyl plank. Only bedrooms, closets, loft, hallway. No kitchen or baths b/c those have tile in place and replacement of that is beyond our budget. The promo materials show it in kitchens and bathrooms. I got mine from Home Depot.

Same here , plan on redoing my flooring . I too have a dog and a young grandchild. After much reserach , am going with solid Hickory flooring . The new laminates are more durable esp with pets and childrens toys . There's also enginered hardwood flooring . I wanted hardwood that could be resanded if damagaed . It's a tough decision . Just think ahead of what it would cost to repair if you ever plan to sell your home in the near future .

I have agonized over this a few times. In an older house I used as a rental, put in regular laminate I got from Costco, do-it yourself. It really didn't last to long, and the clicking sound was terrible. That would be a no go for me. Then we replaced the flooring in our home and chose a pretty high grade LVP. Looked pretty good, still had scratches but it was 1000% times better then the one from Costco. It still kinda had a little clicky sound but I could live with it, the cost was good. Now, gonna replace another house with flooring: Gonna save up and buy real hardwoods. I want the real deal this time. The hardwood add warmth to room and value. I vote for real wood
