How to Clean Comforter

This year I bought the most expensive comforter I ever bought. It's poly, not down, and I'm not sure the best way to clean it. It says just wash and dry, but I'm wondering if dry clean would be better. It's not "dirty", but it is covered with my shedding black lab dog hair. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'd really hate to ruin it. Money isn't the deciding factor here.

I would take it to a laundromat where they have those triple size washers and dryers and wash it - use tennis balls or laundry balls in the dryer with it to fl*ff it.

By the by, Venus, I finally gave up on comforters for the very reason you stated. With two dogs and a cat, it just wasn't worth schlepping to the laundry mat. Most of the time, it seems the extractor machine wasn't working or the large machines weren't working.
That being said, the Laundromat is your best option for very large blankets.

I agree with the others about washing it. Dry cleaners can also wash & dry it for you.

Comforters wash very well in my experience. If it's queen size it will probably be fine in your home washer/dryer. I have king bedding and an average size washer. It doesn't fit in the washer so I go to the laundromat with the comforters and blankets several times a year.

I have king size comforters and launder them in my front loader washer/dryer. I always have some variety of a large dog that sheds 24/7. Mine do fine in the washer/dryer. I have a bedding cycle on my machine and I think that's what you need. The poly blend will be easier to handle than the down or all cotton. I wash my bedding often because of the dog and my allergies .The option of a Laundromat or a reasonable dry cleansers that launders is nice option and certainly a much easier solution to the task.

I also take my comforter to the laundromat to use the large washer and dryer. If I try to do it at home, it takes multiple dryer cycles to dry and only one in the laundromat. I found my laundromat on Yelp and brought my Kindle and my headphones. I also found a little restaurant nearby and have dinner while my comforter dries. It costs a few dollars to do them in the laundromat, but it's so much faster than running my dryer 3 times.

I use the laundramat--or, if it's a really special comforter, I get it dry-cleaned.

I have a very nice down alternative throw .... poly filling ..... and it launders beautifully, but keep an eye on it in the dry cycle. Don't "over dry" it by using a high heat setting ... medium heat is best.

I use the huge size at laundrymats. Bring quarters and soap. (I always forget) mine cost about 5 for wash and 3 for dry.

By the way, eBay has a wonderful, inexpensive lint remover that I use daily to get the collie fur off my comforter. If interested, let me know and I'll tell you how to find it.

If it's just to remove fur, I'd consider putting in in the dryer on low with a damp white washcloth or dishcloth and running it for a short cycle with cooler air.
