The English are so good at the traditional, country house look, but it's also fun to see their designers who can pull off contemporary apartments as well. Natalia Miyar is a good example. I don't get a "hard-edged" feeling from her work. There's a bit of "rustic" here, and stone, bronze and copper keep things from getting too stark, I think.

I like the way she brings in some warm and unexpected colors and coziness to this modern, light-filled apartment living room. The view of that old, mellow-stoned church would be a daily delight.

View into the dining area and TV room. I don't know if those slanted, recessed windows were original to the structure or if she had them put in, but they are a fab feature.

That flush, copper stove hood is so sort of 'city chic'! Love it contrasting with the cool marble on the waterfall island.

Airy master.

Have you noticed that British designers love to upholster, partially or fully, the walls behind beds? Each of these bedrooms has some variation of that.

Natalia Miyar combines different, luxe fabrics in a way that gives interest.

Not bad for a comfortable 'pied a terre' in the heart of London, if modern is your preference.

I like many things about this house @Oznell . I would have never noticed the church outside the window, but that was a great observation.

I like the look of the upholstered walls just fine, but would never use them. They, as well as an upholstered headboard, would be a pet hair collector at my house. I would hate to have to vacuum them. That's what I think about every time I see them.

While I am not a fan of modern, there are elements of this home I like. However, in general modern never feels warm and comfortable to me.

It's a bit modern for my taste, but I like it. I think I might like it better if the accent color were not blue.

I like it..it has a warmth that is hard to achieve with modern decor.

Not a fan of any of it; it simply doesn't look warm and inviting to me - too clinical, especially the bathrooms.

And what's with that wall behind the bed that appears to be fabric panels? My cats would love that!

The one thing I do like is the flooring in the kitchen/dining areas. (But that large rug that looks like a Rorschach ink blot test has to go.)

What she did was put in modern that has a lot of curves in place of all hard angles. That greatroom couch and coffee table could easily be mixed with period antiques.

The chairs around the dining room table have a strong French Provincial influence.

The furnishings and fixtures are nicely designed and inviting but I hate all the gray. It's about as inviting as a state prison facility.

@Oznell I am not a fan of modern and I think, for the most part that it looks like a hotel, if somehow I inherited this pied a terre, I would feel very fortunate and enjoy it immensely.

Not a fan - very cold looking to me uninviting no warmth. I think it is well done for this type of style but not for me. Thanks for sharing.

A fabulous series of spaces. I don't care for the decor or the overall modern vibe, but it's quality and it's been done well, The apartment itself is so nice it would be hard to mess it up completely.

Love it. In the first picture they need to take away most of those throw pillows on the sofa. All the other pictures -- very nice. For some reason they are throw pillow happy in several of the other pictures. Love the kitchen and the bathroom.

While modern is not my preference, I like the mixing of the warm and cool. It doesn't "limit" the look and instead gives it a little "somthin somethin".

I like it a lot...it has mostly clean edges. There's several things I would change but, this a good starting point.
