@jubilant wrote:

@Sooner @stevieb One thing I shoud tell you is that it won't be as neutral as this room because this will be the living area in a great room with a 13 ft. vaulted wood ceiling. Also this great room is 33 ft. long and 20 ft. wide so that's a lot of wood! I think because of this it will lean more country. I think by mixing the warm and cool and keeping it simple it will probably end up being two or three styles blended. I just hope I can pull it off. We need to keep the chairs we have. One is new and the other still looks new so that really saves on the budget. The golden color in the pillow fabric is more gold than it shows up on the swatch. I think that will help pull the warmth of the pine ceiling in.....Hopefully!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@jubilant That's a big room and with a vaulted celing it'll be important to warm it up visually, at least it would be for me... My mother's family room is very large like that, though with a regular height ceiling and, like yours, lots of wood. It'll be fun to play with!! Hope it all turns out beautifully...

I like it. I think a bit of color would do it for me. What really drew me to this picture was the color scheme. I'm getting a new couch in a similar color ( a tad warmer). I also have a chair in the same color as this one in the picture. The other chair in my room is a medium denim blue leather chair with ottoman. It's a beautiful color of blue...not too bright or too dark. I'm trying to imagine this room with my blue chair in it and off white walls. I'm waiting on my couch before I decide on drapery.

The houses I've seen in that 'Low Country' style, @jubilant , have a very similar vibe to the one you depict. Usually a serene backdrop, lots of natural materials, muted color scheme, and above all, big windows letting in all that famously gorgeous light of the marshy Carolina and Georgia lowlands.... so pretty!

The color on my monitor is coming off as a sophisticated sort of taupey shade which always looks fresh paired with lots of spanking white trim. I think it's a very versatile neutral for your couch, and will be beautiful with a denim blue leather chair. Wow! Blue is just the color to give it spark.

It's not a bad looking room, though yes, it could use some color to combat the bland. The light fixture looks sort of dorky but there are some nice elements. I don't see anything particularly low-country about it, though maybe the tables and excess mortar in the brick are supposed to suggest that vibe.

I've never heard of it. But I will say, this is closer to country than most of what I see they call country today.

The brick on the fireplace, the colors, the beams in the ceiling are bits of a more modern country than what I think a lot of people remember country decorating being from back in the 1980's and early 90's, when things were dark, lots of antique/primitive gadgets everywhere.

Country decor has evolved so far that most of what I see today called country doesn't even resemble anything country, but I really like a lot of this room. Could do without the chandelier.
