Red & Turquoise Dining Area

What do you think?

I don’t really care for this room. I don’t mind the red wall, but I don’t like it against all the white. I like the built-in but not the ladder. The turquoise chairs don’t look comfortable, and their country style seem to contrast with the rest of the modern furnishings. The turquoise paint ruins the beautiful table IMO. My least favorite thing, though, is the eyeball chandelier. 😳

Honestly Wilma7500, it kinda gives me a headache.

There's too much going on visually, and the layout of the space is odd and sparse even though it's BOLD and LOUD, it's still somewhat empty.

I don't like it for me personally, I agree w-you.

This room is a pass for me. Nothing works. Not the color combo, the furniture, wood beams with modern floor tiles. I'll pass.

No, I don't like anything about this room, except maybe the large window! Nothing goes, it just seems very disconnected.

My first thought is "I don't need a dining room/area that big!" That many people - we go to a restaurant!

The whole thing looks strange ... furniture arrangement, color, light fixture.

Looks like the kitchen is to the left - what's the sofa/couch/settee (whatever it is) doing facing the kitchen

I don't mind the red - can't stand the turq.

I'd turn the room into a library / lounge area decorated in red, black and off white.

I usually love red and turquoise together but this room is just tragic to me.

Hi @wilma . The one thing I sort of like about the room is the tuquoise chairs, and that's because I have shades of blues & sea glass incorporated in my gray & ivory living room which is open to my gray & ivory dining area. I'm contemplating buying a muted shade of sea glass chairs for a marble dining table whenever I finally move to a condo. I'm sure there's not a big selection of chairs in the color I'd want, but the style would also have to blend. I'm not seeing much continuity of elements in the posted picture.

I don't think I've ever seen a room with so many no's. Yet they weren't for the color combination, which I immediately focused on. I had to go back and look at the furniture style, MCM to me. (called mid-century modern around here) I once remember a poster who was having a paintingj contractor hesitate to paint her bedroom turquoise and red. I never did know how that contest of wills turned out. If you are the one, please let us know.
