Huge Fireplaces

Do you like any of these rooms with huge fireplaces?

My childhood home and my current home didn’t have a fireplace. The home DH & I lived in for 2 years after marriage had a regular sized fireplace. I don’t really have a preference for having one or not.

I like this room. The view is pretty. I would add a bit more color in bedding or furnishings.

I like both fireplaces and rooms very much. Furnishings not so much.

I love large fireplaces. Both rooms are beautiful to me and I like them as is.

We had a very large whole wall brick fireplace in our previous home and we have a smaller stone fireplace in our current house. I like both but prefer larger.....the size of the wall determined the size of our fireplace.

Lots of nice stone ones around here. Well used too, due to outage issues.

However the older I get the more scared I am of high ladders. And those darn spiders seem to know it.

such luxurious pictures!

I like any size fireplace from a Valerie candle to these wall fireplaces.

They always add warmth and comfort I think.

My father taught me to make and light a real fireplace when I was 10.

Electric fireplaces are nice too

These are beautiful and I love them. I love fireplaces, big or small. In our previous home we had a larger fireplace, but we downsized and in our current home we still have a fireplace, but a smaller one. All of ours have been wood burning. I grew up in a home with a fireplace, so I have always loved them.....

I have a large fireplace in my family room. It spans the entire wall. When my husband and I built the house, I had a picture I had torn out of some magazine many years before and kept it hoping one day I could build a home with that exact fireplace. Here's a picture of it. Actually, the picture doesn't show the complete width or height of the fireplace but it gives you a pretty good idea of how big it really is. It's woodburning and I love it as much today as the day I tore that picture out of the magazine.

I love them all! We had a huge stone wall with a fireplace in our previous home. Now in our townhouse we have a smaller gas fireplace. It's still nice and a lot easier to use, just a flick of the switch!! They do add such comfort to the home. My favorite thing to do is sit in front of the fireplace and have a glass of wine, especially on a snowy New England night

That stone fireplace looks exactly like the one my niece's husband built for his house.

He does something with those huge cement trucks so he's around rocks and stones. He built this massive thing (just like the picture) and I don't think it cost him a penny.

To each his own. I thought his was a bit overdone considering the house is all siding, but they like it so that's what matters.

My entire house is almost entirely brick. It makes the house look huge (it's 3,000 sq feet, not that big) but my fireplace in the rec room is just brick like most people's.

I have a beautiful electric one I bought years ago from Home Depot. You'd never know the thing was electric. I don't think I've ever run it for more that 10 minutes.

Isn't it funny ladies how our tastes change over the years.

Can you believe when we built this house around 1976 we even had (behind the wall) a chimney and hookup for a Franklin stove.

I know where it is but it would be hard to find under drywall and wallpaper. Ha!

Hey? Are you laughing? I don't blame you. Can you imagine how a Franklin stove would drive you out of the bedroom with heat?

So here I am, once again, telling you guys of some of the stupid things my late husband and I did when we were young. Ha!

I keep saying "I'm going to turn over a new leaf". Not post so much, yet here I am only up out of bed (remember the broken back) and I'm bla blaing here...Sorry.

@ciao_bella Do you live in NY? This looks exactly like my close friends! I'm shocked! I think hers covers the whole wall. Thanks for the picture.

@wilma I LOVE the first two beautiful spaces. I would welcome bedtime every night if I had that amazing view, and the second is equally lovely!

The last fireplace is just too much for me to process. My eyes said, "what in the world"😲😂😂

I am not a fan of a fireplace.

When we built this house, my BIL (our brick mason) wanted us to build one in the basement, as buck stove inserts were THE THING at that time. My answer was a huge NO.

We stuck with the original plan of an inner thimble venting into clay lined brick chimney for our free standing wood stove.

My brother and SIL got rid of their buck stove insert, and tore out their huge stone chimney a few years ago. Years of heavy usage had damaged the stove, and cracked the chimney. About the time my brother decided to tear it all out, they started finding black snakes inside the house that were living in the stone chimney. LOTS of black snakes!
