I don't know your location, but I'm in Ohio and have been very pleased with the service and pricing from Erie Insurance (both auto and home). They paid the full amount of coverage when we had 10 inches of rain in 2006 and I had a sewer backup. Payment was within a week of the incident. They are mainly in PA and OH I believe.

After yet another hailstorm we will be needing a new roof. This will be the second new roof in 9 years and I fear that after the new roof is completed we will be dropped by our insurance company. Who do use for your Homeowners Insurance and are you happy with them? I know that there was a similar post recently but I can not find that post.

We used to have State Farm (bundled auto and homeowners). It's a long story, but several years ago SF threatened cancellation on the auto or we could agree to go into one of their high risk plans. Well, after being customers of theirs since the mid 70's, we were a bit insulted. DH investigated and we ended up going with Ameriprise (equal or better coverage for less money). We switched the homeowner's too. Because we're Costco Executive Members, we get a 10% discount, but anyone can insure with them. We've been very happy customers.

We always had Erie when we lived in Pa, and they still insure our camper that is up there. But when we moved to Fl. we had to find a different co - we ended up going with AAA- the auto club. Then their agent also got us additional wind and flood and storm surge from other companies as AAA doesn't offer those. So we are totally covered through our AAA agent.

We recently returned to Erie (paid sewer damage claim years ago). We then went with State Farm for less expensive rates until they raised our homeowners premium significantly after we had two storm related claims (both times siding and shutters were replaced). I am hoping Erie will give us the superb service we had years ago.

When we switched back to Erie we saved approximately $800 (HO and auto policies)

My brother and I both use State Farm for our houses & cars, and have been extremely pleased. I had a cast iron sewer with many leaks - affecting my foundation - that they replaced with PVC pipe, and rerouted from underneath the house. My brother just had a roof replaced and leak damage repaired. However, their rates have increased dramatically over the last few years - maybe that is typical among most insurance companies.

Similar to what geraldine said, we had golf ball size hail and have deep indentations in many of the shingles all over the roof. We have had a roofer out to inspect the roof and he feels that a 9 year old roof should not be covered with patches.

Maybe the materials they used were inferior? Is there any kind of warranty on the shingles? I just can't imagine everyone that lives in areas where hail is a problem having to constantly replace their roofs, and insurance paying for them. It just seems odd to me.
