THREE SPRING VIGNETTES IN A TOWNHOUSE

The "Designthusiasm" blogger took 3 small areas of her house, and refreshed for spring. Her style is French-accented, and she's obviously an inveterate collector. She said she liked combining old things with new, in this project.

Who doesn't love a bar cart? (We don't use our wooden midcentury one as intended, we use it as a night stand, sans wheels.) But how pretty is hers with its decanters and flowers:

Mmm, yellow tulips and pink peonies. The bar cart is new, the crystal is vintage. I like the way the lines of the crystal echo the Art Deco lines of the cart.

To give you a context, this is in a corner of a sitting room in the town house. I love the way she has situated that distressed floor vase with its glorious cherry blossoms nearby.

She even decided to decorate their luxurious master closet. She put a new ottoman in there. It does make sense-- you have to go in your closet every day, why not make it welcoming and pretty. And she, enviably, has room to put actual 'furniture' in it...

The vase, teacup and tray are her spring additions! She said she decorates almost every room of her house with her various charming teacups and saucers...

And here's her decorated "niche". Heavenly flowers and vintage silver.

And here's her third spot for a spring refresh. This is the new console underneath her TV in the bedroom. She said originally, she had a more colorful arrangement. That didn't feel right for her spring look, so she decided on "white and silver" for the theme.

It gave her the opportunity to use more of her lovely silver, and to start incorporating her small but growing white ironstone collection.

And I really love the way she included her vintage white enamel coffee service in the mix, plus white flowers.

Boy, I've been marveling at her town house, where they moved after they raised their kids. It's plush! To show you what she has to work with, here's a little glimpse of her dining room. Nice. Those angled windows are such a nice feature, bringing light from slightly different directions.

I like everything except the open wardrobe, not my cup of tea to have my clothes, shoes in the open air....no no, me no likey!

Absolutely lovely! All the decor catch the eye and add such appealing touches to the home! I love groupings.

I have a wood bar cart which my mother parents bought in the fifties. I do not have room for it in my living or dining room so it isn't being used. My parents entertained a lot and I have memories of that cart filled with goodies and drinks!!!

It's very nice. These are apparently wealthy people so they are far different from me. In all honesty, I could spend hours trying to find the perfect vignette and my DH might ask if I "changed something". I guess my point is I prefer an uncluttered look and wouldn't take the time to rearrange those shelves and closets.

VERY pretty. The mismatched chairs wouldn't have been there with small children. That influence hasn't been in vogue long enough to rear children. She did it very well.

She will, however, have to empty the water out of every container daily and replace it to extend the life of the flowers.

I love flowers but I find some of these off putting. I don't care for the containers she chose. The tulips are jammed in, upright like soldiers, they should be in a shorter wider, so they can "spill" and either or the tulips or peonies on the bar cart not both.. The picture of the bar cart showing the cherry blossoms. peonies, lilacs and then the tulips........too much in proximity to each other. I would prefer the bar cart angled in the corner away from the window. The cherry blossoms on the other side of the fireplace and the lilies somewhere else in the room or another room.

The same with the dressing room...........peonies or tulips in the niche.........coffee pot not right for the tulips.......jammed again and the wrong vase for the hyacinths and it's right on top of the other flowers.

For the console in her bedroom, again do not like the container she chose for the peonies. She has so many white small pitchers on the shelves she could have chosen rather than the two she used. The same with the dinning room! The arrangement needs to be larger for that size of table. Her arrangement of plates, etc. do nothing but make it seem missed placed.

Proportions are all off for me. But she's pleased with it and that's the only opinion that matters!

I think everything looks so inviting and pretty.

The Bedroom would not be the room I would display coffee pots and pitchers. That looks out of place to me but to each her own. I bet she loves looking at them.

I haven't seen @lolakimono ...miss her. Hope all is well.

Certainly an interesting home, but so opposite from mine. I love all the flowers, but that seems to be the only sign of life I see. Only two books? DH and I are loving all the interviews with experts of all sorts on the news. Behind many, all the books, some displays even not so neat, and photographs and sentimental objects. It’s always fascinating to see how others live.

That master closet!!

Love the small sized bar cart and it's use as display. I wish I had room for one in my townhouse- I would use it as she did here. Alas, I do not want the visual clutter.

I do have my eye out for a vintage tea set as seen in the closet. Not sure that I have a place for that, either. That's why I downsized, after all. I had a tea but gave it back to my ex as it had been his grandmother's. The tea set pictured looks pretty but as we well know silver plate requires too much upkeep.

That townhouse appear to have plenty of square footage - probably double what I have and more than double the price.

All reasonably attractive vignettes, though the shelves under the TV are bordering on looking cluttered... Fewer but larger items might work... I'd also note that if I ever did like the whole mismatched dining chair look, which I didn't and don't, I'd be fully fed up with it by now...

@Somertime I'm in complete agreement with your assessment of the flowers. If in fact they are all real she must have a flower person come in every day to tend to them and replace as needed. They all look to perfect IMO to be real and there are lots of beautiful silk flowers out there and even acylic water. As much as I love flowers it looks overdone.
