built-in nook in the kitchen for pets

I don't recall seeing a built-in feature like this before, but imagine it would be quite handy for pet owners.

No pets (cats) allowed in my kitchen. Too dangerous.

I'd be worried about water getting slopped on that floor (especially that floor) and someone slipping on it.

My niece and her husband have this in their new house & kitchen. They put theirs at the end of their counter and cabinets.

I understand. My kitty's bowls are in the laundry room. I like the idea of a built-in though.

If this were my kitchen, I'd want some room for counter seating in that spot.

I like the idea of putting it at the end of the counter so that there could be room for counter seating in the middle.

I had a similar built in when we owned our home. It was in the laundry room with cabinets above it. We always had cats and they even had a built in area for their litter box.

It was a big laudnry room though. I would not have that in my kitchen. JMO

I recently saw that on Facebook. Not sure I would like it in the kitchen. My pets want to be with "Mommy" all the time and I don't spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

@wildcat fan I love this kitchen. I like the nook for the pet bowls, but as others have said, I would want it some place else in the kitchen.

that is very cool, and i agree that it would be better if it was not in the kitchen. i saw an image of a kitchen not long ago and they designed the dog's crates to fit in under the kitchen cabinets! very cool.

RE: message 10 you'll be Sure to know when the litter box needs changing if it's right under the sink. with MY luck kitty would probably knock off the water sut off valve or pull out the sprayer hose. But a designated pet feeding station is a great idea.

That's a wonderful idea, especially for cats and small dogs....and a large designer kitchen! We have a small kitchen in our town home, so there's no way I could give up any space for something like this. We don't have a "mud room" (or whatever they're called now), so the cat bowls go on the floor in the kitchen....kitties don't seem to mind!
