LED Bulbs

I use LED bulbs inside and outdoors. Just changed one that I think lasted about 15 months with somewhat minimal usage. I'm not sure the life span of these bulbs is quite as good as they claim. Are you bulbs long lasting under reasonable hours per day?

I don't know what kind you have but I have found they are all very different.

The curley ones,(are they LED?) that I bought yrs ago from the Q when they first started selling LED blubs are still going strong after 10 yrs

I have one outside in my yard that went on and off auto when it sensed daylight.

I broke the censor by accident ,so now it stays on 24/7 for the past 3 yrs..............lol

The round regular blub type ones not as good at all...imo

I have th LED floodlight bulbs. These last a long time. I have been replacing the indoor lights with the led bulbs. I had a supply of the "curly" bulbs from QVC and they are only starting to burn out now. They are years old. I find that the "regular" led bulbs or specialty ones (like chandelier bulbs) the quality seems to depend on the brand. I still will buy them because I do see a difference on the light bill.

@MalteseMommamine are mostly the round type that are like a typical incandescent. I use different brands too. Maybe it's the fixture since it's basically enclosed, although the bulb is supposed to be ok for that type of fixture. Oh well.

"the curly ones" are CFL bulbs, compact florescent lamp. Household CFLs are no longer available, only some industrial types.

LED bulbs (light emitting diode) burn cool, so are good for lights I want on all the time, like over stairs or above litter box area.

The Sylvania and Walmart LEDs I bought a dozen years ago are still working.

LEDs use less energy, but create other problems. When we have snowstorms, the traffic lights can be completely covered in snow.

In the past, the heat from incandescent bulbs melted that, and kept traffic moving safely. But the cool burning LEDs don't melt the snow, and sometimes you can't tell what color is lit behind it.

Very bad situation.

I've been using two comparable to 100 watts for about 7 years. One on by my computer over 12 hours a day. The other depending on amount of daylight, around 3-6 hours daily.

One Luminara candle with an LED light was used 24 hours daily for close to 5 years when it began to dim.

Unless your light is always on, 15 months is much too short.

I have all LED lights now from our last summer re construction--all the can lights and in 2 of the baths as well as downstairs, kitchen, diningroom and laundry area, also the new hanging lights-most of my lamps too but have a few I need to switch over--can't believe how hot the reg ones can get----we have outdoor house lights that have the curley bulbs that have been in use for at least the last 15 years; slowly they are burning out. they have photo sensors and come on at dusk.
