Hi. I’m looking for the best vacuum for dusting wood and glass furniture, cleaning slats in louvered doors, dusting upholstered furniture, dusting baseboards. The vacuum can be a lift off type or any type. I’d like a bagged model but I’m open to suggestions. I’d like HEPA but I’m interested in any ideas. Long cord is a plus. Brush is a must.

I find that a vacuum cleaner is not the best tool for dusting Yes, it gets some of the dust but there's plenty left. I like to use either a treated or sligjtly damp (depending on what you're dusting) dust cloth that will grab and hold the dust. It does a very thorough job.

I use a canister vacuum for upholstered furniture. I also use it to vacuum the rug alongside the baseboards and the baseboards.

Every few months I use a slightly damp cloth to clean off the baseboards. Once weekly, damp cloths for all the other woodwork and doors. When needed, sometimes several times weekly, a damp cloth for the furniture.

A vacuum brush is good for louvered anything, but I'd use a damp cloth every few months.

Glass cleaner for glass.

Can't recommend a particular canister. I have a Hoover and it does a good job for what I use it for. I don't use it for vacuuming the rugs.

I use my canister vacuum to dust baseboards, furniture, wooden tv, end tables, etc and much more. Dust gets sucked up into the vacuum bag. With any other cloth or whatever, you still have dust on the cloth.Vacuum makes it disappear. On any wood furniture after vacuuming, I use pledge and a rag for a final shine.

There are some really great products for all kinds of dusting. I only use my vac when I happen to find a random dust bunny & their family. I have what you might call a dust mop on a pole, it can be adjusted so I can reach behind furniture, ceilings, etc. I buy microfiber cloths from the auto department, much cheaper.

I have a lot of tile & vinyl on my floors, I do the baseboards when I mop. I use a microfiber mop with a removable head to mop. About once a week I throw everything in a separate machine wash.

I find that vbacuums really don't do a great job of dusting. I prefer the Campenelli dusters because they bend and extend to reach everything. They wash well and last and last. If your heart is set on a vacuum then I recommend the Dyson cordless V10 with all the attachements. Works well for me for quick jobs or out of reach jobs.

Usually the dusting tool they give you with a vacuum cleaner is not the best. I went to a local vacuum cleaner repair store and found a really good-working brush attachment. It has very dense bristles that can sweep across anything and get it clean. It's a generic duster but it fits my Shark Lift-Away upright.
