For those who miss the old HGTV like Gardening by the Yard, Decorating Cents, Carol Duvall, etc.

What fun to see old friends, I remember the quilting shows very well and of course Carol Duvall and the Decorating Cents shows - and loved Gardening by the Yard, not only was he fun but he did stuff the common garrdener might actually do, not crazy million dollar yard makeovers.

Many know this I am sure but I just did it today. If you download the HGTV Go app (free but you log in the first time with your tv provider like Dish or Direct TV or cable co) they have all the new shows plus a lot of the old ones. I shall be watching them with happy memories.

Just wanted to share.

I already have the Food Tv app, the Discovery ID app and the TLC app so I have lots of things to watch when I can't find anything on TV (although I have the biggest package Dish sells

HGTV is a total meh right now. Carol Duvall has retired and lives up here in the Traverse City area. I believe she still has some projects on YT for those who want to revisit her crafting.

I cut the cord on my satellite TV a couple years ago and have been watching streaming and antenna TV. On the antenna, I've been enjoying a couple of channels sponsored by PBS. They are Dabl and Create. They have a variety including decorating (Sarah Richardson 2 hrs daily). crafts with Martha Stewart, a wonderful show called Escape to the Country which explores the English countryside while looking for houses, travel shows, cooking (ethnic & America's Test Kitchen), lifestyle....quite a variety.

I don't get anything done during the day anymore.

I used to watch PBS every Saturday, they had the Bob Ross painting show, This Old House, Julia Child, Martha Stewart, quilting shows, gardening shows, not sure why I haven't checked lately. But, thanks to you I will....

@minkbunny. There is a daily hour of Bob Ross on one of these channels too. There are not regular PBS , but are separate channels not on cable.

@Kachina624 Ahh, I get it now ! I have friends who have the antenna thing so I will mention it to them. We have Dish in the den with a receiver in the bedroom as well but I have been thinking about getting one of the antenna things for a spare tv in the exercise room. Thanks for clarifying and enjoy all those great shows. My husband and I were just saying last night that most of the shows we watch are from an earlier era - we watch the Waltons every afternoon and Gunsmoke every night

@Kachina624 One of my local (cable) PBS stations is beginning to show Escape to the Country. I'll be curious to check it out. We get multiple PBS channels and one of them is exclusively British based TV.

We get Create & Dabl from our cable provider.

@deeva I saw it for the first time last night. Interesting that while it's very similar to 'Househunters' both the host and those seeking a home seem so much more civil, authentic, reasonable and their expectations more reasonable... Also like the way they don't just show the houses, but give little tours of points of interest. Don't know if I'll become a regular, but it's a nice show.

I love the rolling meadows and Victoria homes. But, they could really make this show 30 minutes instead of an hour.
