Pretty and Bright Sitting Room...

I'm enjoying the work of decorator Mark Sikes quite a bit these days. If I could afford to have him come and do my home I'd be sorely tempted. The only thing is he clearly adores blue and while I think it's a beautiful color, it's not among my favorites for interiors, other than for accessories... I thought I'd feature some of his work... Unfortunately, I've had to edit down some of the pictures to meet the size requirements for posting on these boards...

Very fresh, uplifting space. I like his work too. It's quite layered-- I might have to thin out the accessories just a bit, but love the mood, the repetition of arches, the light and the view.

You are right about to many tchotchkes. I love the big window. It is a beautiful inviting room.

WIsh I could have posted the larger image of this pretty room. There are more arched windows along the other side of the room, bringing in beautiful light. I think one of the several things that draws me to Sikes is his use of lots of blue and white porcelains and ginger jars, which I like so much.

I agree with some r the others... beautiful room, just too full. I would remove quite a few of the items in it, but I would keep the blue and white porcelain!

I like it, especially because I live in deep South. Only thing, although I like lots of stuff in a room, this room has a little too much stuff. Time consuming to clean--I'd have to call in my maid..

I love this room.

Where is all this clutter everyone is talking about? I see no clutter. It's perfect. Besides, when you take a photo from one angle, everything looks "piled up" against everything else. If you were in the room, it would look quite different.

This is a lovely appealing room, one which I could be comfortable in and relax surrounded by beautiful decor and furnishings! Just so pretty!

This is an appealing room. It is very nice, the style the warmth, and the windows with all the light. For me it would be a keeper. Curious about the picture hanging above the fireplace, can not distinguish what it looks like. If it comes with the room, it will be a keeper.

It is pretty and bright. I rather like blue and once had six matching pieces like that ginger jar.

It looks nice and comfortable but 1) a little too much clutter, 2) those bottom ruffles on the chair and sofa would have to go, and 3) I'd change the table under the mirror to one that had clean lines.

I love the bones of the room, the arches and bookcases but the room is a bit too cluttered ..too much furniture and decor pieces... and too much white...

@GingerPeach I don't know, maybe it's us, but I'm not seeing clutter either... I know clutter is a subject broached frequently on these decor threads and often I 'get it', even when I don't necessarily agree, but not this time, I guess...

To me, it's a lovely space and a lovely room... Aside from the preponderance of blue in many of his designs, one of my other reservations is he seems to use quite a bit of natural fiber furniture. I suppose it's fine, in reasonable doses in some rooms, particularly in some climates, but is not among my overall favorites...
